Sales have been super slow so I have not been looking at my ebay account for sales and payments, I count on seeing the emails from ebay when that happens. However, a sale and subsequent payment did not make it past my spam filter. The buyer emailed me very upset demanding to know why I had not shipped and threatened to report me to ebay (mind you this was the first I had heard about the sale). I immediately packed and shipped the item and in formed the buyer and got this response:
I explained that I did not demand the money right away, ebay did. If were up to me to send the invoice then I would have only sent it today (as I just found out I had a sale). I know I was a week late it shipping, but I feel like this response is over the top for a $2 item. Any suggestions? I have canceled the rest of my auctions, I just don't feel like putting up with this kind of abuse is worth $2.

The abuse is ridiculous, and IMHO it's always the cheapskates, but by the same token you need to be more vigilant about listings - white list the eBay's email address so you don't miss anymore emails, but better yet, just check into your account once a day. Since you were the one with the oversight, canceling all of your auctions over it seems a little extreme, but whatever.

Why did you wait so **bleep** long to ship?? You demand your money right away, but hold onto both my $$ and the item for a week. THAT IS NOT FAIR !!!! You have not explained why you waited a week to ship.

If you have listings up/live, check your Seller Hub at least once per day - we do not rely on emails to tell us we have orders pending, especially during the Holiday rush.
Good luck!

If you cant take time to check your sales account, then I think that note was right on the mark. You're the one selling, you have the responsibility to check your account.

Especially since spam filters are notorious for filtering stuff that isn't spam.

Ironically this is the only reason the mobile app has some value. Beyond the sales notifications it is just another piece of malware on my phone.

hate the app, it stinks...with that said I'm done with ebay also...see you in an hour or so 😆

The buyer has a right to be upset. Be it $2 or $200. If you have listings up, it is your obligation to check on them regularly. They pay, you ship. They pay, you don’t ship, then the result is upset customers, and negative feedback. You dropped the ball here.

This kind of laxity will affect you no matter where you sell, BTW, so going to another site won't be much different.

I run a little ship downtown. It's just me. No employees.
I mostly stay in the back room.
Once every few days i'll check the front of the store
just in case someone may have wandered in and wants to buy something.

It may have only been a $2.00 item, but with a $33 shipping fee I would expect it to be sent right away as well.

(mind you this was the first I had heard about the sale).
You depend on an email? If you are selling you must check your seller page daily! It is right there saying what tasks you have. I'm sorry, I have no sympathy for you.

Her shipping is just a few dollars. You are just seeing the penalty for being in Australia 🙂

You cannot rely on their payment emails many times there isn't one at all. You should be checking seller hub / orders / awaiting postage at least once a day. I often catch ones where I never got the email. Sometimes to you just get a your item sold email but no payment email. So you need to as mentioned step up and watch orders in seller hub daily. I to would be frustrated if a seller had not posted item after a week. I ship daily and keep a close eye on sales. You should also be checking the payment area on seller hub you can clearly see incoming funds there.

I'm glad you're done with Ebay........
I just don't understand posts like this........we're supposed to feel sorry for you that you totally failed in carrying out your responsibility? That it was "only" a $2 item, which is what YOU chose to list.....
I just wonder what kind of post you would make if YOU were the buyer instead of the seller......
