I've been a seller for a bit and I suspect the buyer claimed the item and is now requesting a refund. I expect the account to be fake because it bought my item the same day it made the account. Weirdly enough the item is nowhere to be found and now requesting money back. The item was 100 bucks and they could have easily stolen it using my information at the post office. Need help on reporting fake name/address.

If they opened an INR case and your tracking does not show delivered I would refund and move on.
It isn't fun I know .... been there done that. But you won't get a defect for it. If they leave you neg or neutral feedback respond to it professionally no name calling just facts "PO lost package refund issued."
It's about all you can do at this point.
I have done so myself ..I have 1 negative feedback it was the lost package. It eventually turned up at the buyer address one month later..It happens, it's beyond our control.

what if I can't afford to pay a refund at the moment?
This is where credit cards come into play.
When I hear a customer saying "I can't pay until I am paid on Friday" I have no sympathy because almost anyone can get a card, which allows paying the seller /buyer immediately and put off repayment of the card as possible.
Yes, you will pay interest.
Fun fact: in 1974 when we bought our first house, we were caught off guard by a fee of $300 to the Sheriff of Ottawa. I paid it with my brand new credit card.

That's not how Ebay works.
If you don't have enough available funds, they'll pull the money from your funding source to cover the refund.

Literally not one piece of this sounds fake. Not one! It just sounds like a legit buyer who has not rec'd their item yet.
All carriers get lost or delayed pkgs, they all handles millions of pkgs daily. Don't switch to another carrier b/c your pkg was delayed. COVID is still affecting some USPS locations.
Maybe your buyer needed it by the date it was supposed to arrive, that's why they filed an INR. The USPS calling you is COMPLETELY normal, when you open a Missing Mail search.
Buyers signing up & purchasing your item same day is COMPLETELY normal. Happens to me all the time. It just means they wanted your item bad enough to open an account.
I've been selling since 97, in ALL that time, only 1 pkg has ever gone completely missing. There are delays at times & almost always those are delivered, just a bit late.
If it's a true INR, you WILL have to refund. As you should, b/c the item was not received. But I suspect it will turn up any day.
Please do NOT call anyone b/c you think this is fake. Not one bit of it sounds like a "fake buyer"!

OP, have you asked the buyer to check from their end also, ask their postal worker, ask their neighbors? Did the package have a tracking device or GPS? I had a problem with my local carrier for a while. They'd drop off packages anywhere but at my house. Five or six times. Got it all sorted out but it took time. I have had one item (3 posters) go missing that was never found. It happens.

". . . usually, when someone wants to open an account they would put a name to a famous person they know."
WHAT??
So what famous person's name did this buyer use?

@foxpennysales : Okay, duly noted, but still: what was the date of the last scan of the package? I can count on one finger the number of items that the USPS has lost of mine in 18 years of selling.
One other point: given the value of your item, you should file a Package Intercept request with the USPS:
https://faq.usps.com/s/article/USPS-Package-Intercept-The-Basics
There is no fee if the package is not successfully intercepted.

Why is John Adams famous? I know of an Amy Adams, an actor.
Those are two very common names.

I Googled "Famous people named Adams" and it very obligingly gave me a website with a full and very comprehensive report: https://playback.fm/people/last-name/adams
I'm not sure what the name has to do with anything, though. The Post Office, for example, doesn't care what name is on the first line of the address at all (unless the mailpiece is a Restricted Delivery Signature Confirmation that must be signed for by the addressee and no one else).
