I can't find my other thread I started either yesterday or the day before about the uyer returning and I did not get any tracking.
Well, I go tht item back yesterday.
So I refund by clicking on "refund".
ebay messags me saying the refund went via echeck and it takes up to 6 days to clear.
And if it DOES NOT CLEAR IN 6 DAYS, Ebay will refund through the money back guarantee and ding me.
How is that my fault??
I don't know anyting about echeck.
I simply refunded on th item page in my summary " refund buyer"
I had the funds in m y pay pal account to cover this refund.

How did the buyer pay was it E-check?
And E-checks are just like regular checks, they do not clear until it is determined that the person issuing it has sufficient funds to cover it.
You probably should have just refunded with your paypal funds.

"You probably should have just refunded with your paypal funds. "
They didn't have any money in their PayPal account.
That's why it was processed as an eCheck.

https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/What-is-an-eCheck-FAQ1082
"If you are issuing a refund and don’t have sufficient funds available in your PayPal balance, an eCheck with the full refund amount will be issued. Note that an eCheck for the full amount will always be requested from your bank, since eChecks cannot be partially funded by a PayPal balance."

If you had sufficient funds in your paypal account to cover the refund, it shouldn't have gone through as an e-check.
Log into Paypal and look at the refund record, it will show you the funding source. If you were even 1 cent short in your Paypal balance, the entire refund would go through as an e-check.
Oh - and to reply with a quote - hit reply on the post you are replying to and then click QUOTE which is on the far right of the line of edits like bold, italics, etc etc

Just going by what the OP claims that she did have sufficient funds in her paypal account to refund.

That has happened to me twice this year. I never noticed until I checked Paypal which i only do once a week, ( and I always keep a float in Paypal)
I think it has to do with how the buyer made the original payment, whether they made it by Paypal , Credit Card or from their checking account as an e-check.
If your concerned I would suggest calling ebay customer services.

You need to call PayPal if you had the full amount available in your account.
Ask them why it was done.

Yes, that is why I asked her how the buyer paid and wondered if it is like B&M stores where they refund you in the same manner in which you paid.
