When I tried to list a book for sale this morning, I got the following message: "This category is no longer open to new listings or listing updates. Please select an alternative category for your listing." This was followed by {e56713-1049531x} I wasn't sure if this last bit was just used to refer to the message or if it signified something else. When I tried listing other books, I didn't even get this far because a small white square, surrounded by gray, appeared in the middle of my screen with the following message, "Looks like something's wrong. Please try again." The work OK appeared under the message and when I clicked on it, it sent me to my - Manage active listings - page. Each time I tried listing a book, I got this message. I was able to list another item that wasn't a book but am unable to list books.

They're fiddling with the book categories at the moment.
Which category were you attempting to use? For example I believe cookbooks are now in books - other (or maybe books nonfiction)

eBay has been messed up. I had trouble logging on last night and this morning.

And I have been getting redirected to the sign in page again today every time I try to do something on here or click relist on a listing or other simple tasks. The same problem I had all last week as has been reported on the Technical Issues page. I hope someone can bring this up at the community chat today as I will not be around.

I started out by entering the ISBN for the textbook I wanted to list, and I got that weird error message that the category doesn't exist when I was using eBay's autofill options to list the item ("Books > Other Books"). I went back and started over by using the category "Books > Nonfiction" and not giving eBay the ISBN and it posted fine.

I think because they're fiddling with the book categories they've messed up the product catalog assignments. May be painful for a bit, but IMO this is long overdue.

The only way around this is to list your books under recently used catagories. Create listing....then go to recently used catagories. Then list book under that catagory. You also can change catagory once you get to template.

When you get message,"looks like something went wrong" when trying to list book, start over. First, Create listing, then go to recently used catagories, then list book under the catagory. ( I only sell books so it has to be a book catagory) (ficton, nonfiction, text books, ect.) Also, you can use 'brouse catagories, or search catagories. That works too. ( Sometimes) This whole mess started with mega listers dumping millions of books into wherever they wanted. Now, we are paying for this. The whole book catagory is wrecked.

You can use the ISBN. Create listing, recently used catagories, then the first thing you do is enter ISBN. It would go directly into text book section with title and everything else.

I was going to relist an item and got the same error message. So I tried starting from scratch, creating a new listing and copying and pasting everything. Still got the same error message. Can't relist old stuff, can't relist new stuff. VERY frustrating.

Scratch that last message...I got it to work!
"You can use the ISBN. Create listing, recently used catagories, then the first thing you do is enter ISBN. It would go directly into text book section with title and everything else."
Just to clarify: 1 create a listing 2 choose a recently used category 3 enter ISBN. I was thrown off by "then the first thing you do is enter ISBN"
