I received a refund request for an item that the buyer claimed was damaged. I checked the tracking and the item has not yet been delivered, so I called customer service and it was settled. I then went to my sold items for today and the same buyer has purchased another item. Do I cancel the sale or just ship the second item and hope I don't have another problem??

Block this buyer !

You will receive a defect, & pay fvf, if you cancel unless by buyer request or problem with shipping address.

@jeannette781, after the first problem you had with this buyer you should have put them on your Blocked Bidder List which would have prevented them for purchasing additional items from you.   Unfortunately, you're going to have to go through with this second sale as you'll get a defect on your account if you try and cancel.  The only time you aren't penalized is if the buyer requests the cancellation or there is a problem with the mailing address.

So, go ahead with the second sale, but put the person on your BBL immediately so he/she won't be able to purchase additional items and cause problems for you.

Hey, Liv. I get it that the second purchase from this same buyer would probably ? need to be honored as a sale and you need to ship. BUT...wouldn't ebay see there was a problem with that first order (claiming damage yet had not even received the item yet?) and ebay did rule in the seller's favor. Then we have another purchase with the same buyer who filed a false claim on the first one? Wouldn't the second sale just be nixed by eBay in some fashion if the seller alerts eBay before shipping out?

Sure, the seller could have put them on their blocked list after the first escapade, but to me this second sale should somehow be nixed. And how much time from the first one and this second one re: purchase? Could be a malicious 2nd purchase? And the seller has to go through this again? I guess I am just dreaming about fairness. This just puts the seller out there to again have a problem. JMO.

@abfabvintage, I get what you're saying, but my guess is that eBay would say, the first time around they sided with the seller, but "in fairness" the buyer could have gotten confused and marked the wrong item as being damaged so is now trying to re-purchase.   Since there's no way to know for sure, and the seller didn't take their own precautions to prevent a repeat purchase from that buyer, eBay would say there's no good reason for the seller not to ship.

Thanks for the reply, but you do get it...will be interesting that when this seller sends the second purchase whether another issue raises its ugly head. Then what? If you know what I mean. Hopefully the OP will come back here and tell all of us how the second sale went off without a hitch. Thanks again.

The timeline for all this is ...

First item paid and shipped on the 5th

Second item purchase at 6:30 PM on Sat. 6th

File claimed for first item Sun. 7th at 6:50 am (item still in transit at this time)

Hopefully it was an error on their part , but I'll let you know how the second transaction resolves.. thank you all

So you hadn't even had a problem with the buyer yet when they bought the second item, right? You had absolutely no reason to block the buyer after the first purchase, until they had already made the second purchase?

I'm sure @tiramisu41 didn't realize that before s/he responded to you.

Correct @pburn.  However, depending on how the buyer acts after this second sale, I wouldn't hesitate to add them to my BBL if there are additional shenanigans.

Cancel the sale ASAP. And block the buyer forever and hope he doesn't come after you with another user ID. And probably when he will receive the item that he claimed that it was damaged he will try to get a full refund from you.

Good luck to you!

You can't cancel the sale.

According to eBay, there's no reason.

If they won and paid, ship.

Worse case scenario,

they file another not-as-described...

which, is 'numbered' by eBay

Buyers can't file on every sale.. for long..

There's a limit under Buyer Protection rules.

IMO, a request for refund of a damaged item, which has not been delivered to the buyer, could be seen as sufficient reason to undertake a bock.

Always BBL first and ask questions later.
