More often than not I do not receive any feedback. It doesn't help my credibility as a seller any.
To that end I'd like to suggest that any sale where the buyer doesn't leave feedback after 90 days should automatically increase my feedback rating by 1. Why do sellers have to suffer for the laziness or ineptness of the buyer?

First, feedback is voluntary. No one is owed it and it isn't part of the transaction. Buyer gets widget, seller gets their money. That's it.
Your idea has been proposed before and the general consensus is that it won't work because if buyers knew you would automatically get a feedback, they would be sure to post the negative or neutral that they may have been kind enough not to post. Not leaving feedback is a way many buyers choose to show a transaction was not successful but they were not unhappy enough to document that in feedback.
Take that option away and you might be getting more negs and neutrals.
And assuming it is laziness or ineptitude on the part of the buyer is wrong. No feedback might be in response to the seller's laziness or ineptitude.
Your call.

How exactly are you ‘suffering’ by not receiving feedback?
Feedback is totally voluntary so calling buyers lazy or inept because they haven’t left it really is over the top. Sure it would be nice if more buyers left feedback but many don’t leave it and it really doesn’t matter.

I understand your situation. As a new seller, building some FB is very important for you. But ANY effort to force members to participate in what is a voluntary system would cause you far more harm than good.
You just need to be patient. Some buyers do leave FB, but most do not. Do NOT ask your customers to leave FB. If they want to leave it, they will. But to ask can really cause you to be sorry as the FB they leave may be less that glowing or worse it could be a negative or neutral which would significantly damage your new selling account.
I know it is hard. Just keep on selling and keep on being a responsible seller. Take good care of your customers and the FB will come.

Many buyers just want their widget!
I think the OP was employing a little dramatic license there, with the "suffering" comment.

Nope! The Op has legitimate concerns. They are a new seller and need the FB. But they shouldn't ask their buyers to leave FB or anything as I previously stated. For new sellers this is a real issue as it plays an important part of payment holds and how other buyers may view them as a seller.
I get messages all the time from buyers wanting me to leave FB for them. It happens on a regular basis.

Just so you know, there are many buyers who come to these forums and read the threads/comments here. Just something to consider before calling them names. That won't help your credibility all that much either.
Personally, I would not want Ebay to give the automatic feedback, although it would work in my favor as a seller. Maybe there is a reason buyers are not leaving the feedback; no feedback sometimes means a buyer is not overall happy with the transaction (I've done that many times as a buyer when a neg wasn't quite warranted, but they didn't really deserve a positive). Given the option that a seller is going to get an automatic positive, buyers may just start leaving more neutrals/negs.
Or it could be that in this crazy busy world, leaving a review/feedback doesn't figure highly in their priorities. Nothing lazy or inept about that.

So you are seriously saying buyers who do not want to participate in the feedback program are inept and lazy buyers ? I have to assume every time to eat at a restaurant, go to the movies, talk to a CS agent on the phone, etc. you always leave feedback because you are not inept and lazy ? Sorry to say but feedback is a voluntary program in which buyers have a choice to use or not. Also, NO, you should not automatically get a positive feedback if a buyer does not leave you one. I have not left feedback hundreds of times because I did not want to leave a neutral or negative.

All of us get feedback only from some fraction of our buyers. For new sellers the increase in numbers may be frustratingly slow, but it works that way for all of us. Hang around long enough and the amount of feedback you get will seem pretty insignificant.

Exactly but that doesn't seem to be considered much by those who are upset about not getting any.

OP, if this is the account you are trying to get Feedback on, you need to get a lot more listings up to build those numbers. With 3 sales in the past month (and only 6 items listed now), it is going to go at a snails pace. For example: if 1 in 4 sales result in a positive feedback, then that would be 1 feedback per month for you. List 40 items (obviously they won't all sell) and the ratio gives you more of a chance to speed things up.
Anytime my feedback numbers start to slow down, I kick in my shipping speed (faster than my stated handling time and/or upgrading the shipping class if cost difference is reasonable) because that has consistently motivated my buyers to leave feedback. When they get their package a day or two before expected, they are pretty happy about it, and for me at least, it translates to feedback.
During the holidays my ratio goes down, because a lot of holiday buyers come here just for that one item, and so Ebay (and leaving feedback) is off their radar for the most part. Perhaps that was your experience the last month as well. You can't take it personally. I know it can be frustrating, but I encourage you to list, list, list..and the feedback will eventually come.

OP is not a new member.
OP, feedback on eBay has been losing ground for a long time now. Fewer are leaving it, fewer are consulting it. It no longer counts in selling metrics and 10 years ago, its purpose was altered when sellers were banned from leaving negative reviews for buyers. It still has its purpose, but has lost much of its previous authority. Like anything, change happens and the feedback system has as well. As eBay evolves, it is possible FB will be replaced with a transaction count and star ratings only. Time will tell.

I'm not sure anyone said they were a new member. But they are a newer seller. While they do have a little selling history it is from some time back and now they are trying to re-establish themselves. The need for the FB is real for newer seller. While the OP's outlook on buyers leaves a bit to be desired, it doesn't change that they do the FB to make their account look a bit better and help them get off payment holds.
