99% of my shipments are via USPS. I've been shipping SAME or next day (very often on Saturday) for years...MANY years.
I've even taken future shipments for auctions when I go home for Christmas and the end date is after Christmas.
Last year, per ebay "metrics", I had 18 late shipments from Feb thru Dec.
This January alone, I've had 17...5 more and I lose my beloved 10% discount.
That used to mean something, especially when I was selling $6K/month and the discount was 20%.
Now, it means nada. I'm happily bopping along at about $1K or less per month...which equates to a whopping $10 discount. One extra $10 sale makes that meaningless.
ebays KNOWS to 3 decimal places the actual average USPS delivery time for seller items from one ZIP to another for all classes of mail, but simply refuses to use THAT metric as a yardstick for seller "performance". Adding 1 day to that average would even allow a RANGE for expected delivery dates...and acknowledgement that stuff happens. At least USPS does (hint, hint).
Maybe they have to justify the CEO's quip from the Davos conference that the average delivery for ebay items in the U.S. is TWO DAYS. He said it with a straight face.

So, we're at the mercy of the 1st scan, which determines "speed" of delivery.
If my substitute carrier doesn't scan , and neither does the receiving P.O. (not unusual), game over.
My tracking uploaded on time is 100%, which reflects the day of or day before actual acceptance by USPS, scan or no scan notwithstanding.
ebay doesn't trust that...it's run by algorithms, which can't be programmed for common sense.
There's a bug right now that is counting shipments as late deliveries even when the tracking was uploaded on time. eBay is aware of it and you can call and get the late shipments removed.

I've had this EXACT problem this winter. Got a new carrier for our route, comes around very late, well after 5 pm and later than that if there is snow. Then if they don't scan upon pick up, I'm done for and I know it's going down as 'late'. Had 5 'late shipments' in January for that reason and it's very frustrating, I feel your pain.

I have a parcel that went PM on the 3rd from WA state and only JUST reached Ohio today on the 10th.
So much for 3 day PM delivery.
But CEO Wenig says "In the US a package is delivered average in 2 days, for ebay"

I still qualify for TRS+ but ship using standard shipping rather than USPS First Class - that way I get a a day or two more for the estimated delivery.tunicsalot - unquote --------
Or how about as a buyer you get no deliveries ? I admit I'm getting a little ticked at the USPS service lately . I never received the package that was due on Jan . 16th ,, tracking said '' out for delivery '' one day then it poofed into thin air between our local post office and my house. The lost package report I filled out on it did no good what so ever,, even to this day it hasn't arrived . Then USPS smashed up a box for me , broke half the stuff inside .Thankfully It was insured so I turned in the box of new crumbs to our local post office and filed a claim ,, that was a little over a month ago ,, still no word yet . Now a friend of mine is upset because she sent me a package 8 days ago from right here in CA. where I live as well ,, but it seems USPS has lost that box too . I'm also missing two other orders that were supposed to be here on Nov. 5th,, grrrr . I realize USPS is the least expensive and I do appreciate that aspect ,, I use them myself to ship out my sale items . However lately it's as though a very hungry postal curse has creeped in and is swallowing my mail. 😞 Tulips

I sent 2 books in the mail on 2/7 and for the past 6 days the tracking says "in transit on way to destination" with no new information about its whereabouts. I have never noticed this lasting for so long, even with media mail. Usually there is movement every day or two. One went to Wisconsin and the other to Florida, both sent from Iowa. One customer was a student who was forced to go out and buy another book to study for an exam. That will result in a return. The other customer has not said anything yet. I doubt that 2 items can be both lost at the same time. Not sure what to do now.

If I designate 1st class - the expectation is 2-3 days and we know that occasionally it may take a day or two longer.
That is a helpful information .. thanks for the tip! Do you select "standard" from the drop down when you are listing or is that an option when printing the label?
I will have to implement this ste.
You just select standard shipping from the drop down menu when marking your shipping method in your listings

Yeah, we had a buyer from about 30 miles away pick up some bearings rather than have them shipped. We got dinged because of no tracking uploaded.
The "answer" to that one - put "Available for Local Pick Up" on every. single. listing (in addition to your usual method).
Pain in the rump, to be sure.

I just had the same problem with a shipment that was sent to PR. It unfortunately went through the Miami hub which has been reported to have problems. I refunded and packaged finally arrived 5 days later. It was stuck in Florida for over a week.
We can sit here and complain about the glitches - but that isn't solving anything. Advice has been giving to get the late ship marks removed. It's best to take the items right to the PO - stand in line and get them scanned - if your carrier is unrelianble - or take it up with your post master. If people keep complaining when solutions have been given - then the blame falls on you. This isn't a perfect world - I learned that long ago....

I received a Package from Japan(6 Days) Yet a Priority mail package from Dallas takes 8 days or more? Something is just not right here..... I am in Texas.
