I'm afraid to leave feedback if it's been automated for me.

I think twice about leaving feedback now.  I sold an item Sept 18th that shipped Priority but wasn't delivered until the 27th.  I received the automated positive feedback but don't want to draw attention to a sale were the buyer did not voice their true feelings.   Buyers don't know they left an automated response and they can override it.  Most buyers don't even know the option to read feedback left exists.

Well, you're going to get the automated feedback anyway, unless or until the buyer leaves some comment of his own. If you're waiting for the buyer to leave a comment first (as I do; the buyer is really the one to decide if the sale was a Positive one), you don't need to change that approach for any reason that I can see.

Right, so, again, I would not change whatever feedback routine you have developed for yourself.

You are of course free to do what you want.

To me your plan sounds incredibly silly.

But on the other hand, some buyers get upset if they are not given feedback.  eBay might send them a notice about their options anyway.  It's a tough call.    Could be worse, wait until automated buying. You look at an item and it's purchased for you.

You might be over thinking it, Just Relax.I would not let something like that actually make me feel afraid.

We leave feedback automatically once a buyer pays, long before automated feedback would be left or they would leave feedback themselves. I would not be concerned about this at all.

It's not going to be for every sale but this one stood out because USPS was so slow and I've been blamed for their shortcomings before.

I'm afraid of everything from deli salads to the police.

Automate feedback after buyer payment, not upon delivery or buyer leaving a positive, that may solve the issue.

You're not going to feel this way about every automated FB that you receive, are you?

Gosh no, this one was so slow to arrive.

I experimented with feedback a lot of different ways when I first started off big with my other account (which was selling over 500 cards a month) and I found that the best thing to do was automated feedback left when the buyer paid.

I had originally saved it up and then left it in bulk for hundreds of people at a time whenever I got a negative or a neutral so that the return feedback would push the bad feedback off the first page, but I quickly learned that every time I did that I would remind several people that the transaction existed and they would then decide to have a problem with it.

If the buyer references the slow shipping/package delays, you do have some recourse.  I recently had a neutral removed when a buyer complained about slow shipping.  (It took a week... gasp!!)

Item delivery issues

We remove neutral/negative feedback when the buyer is referencing:

  • A delivery issue where tracking shows us that the delivery or handling time expectations were met
  • A delivery issue where a natural disaster or unexpected event caused a carrier delay
  • A customs or tax issue outside the seller’s control that we could identify

I'm too lazy to read.

Question.

How long after a buyer receives the item does the auto feedback get left?

The one I got today was ordered on the 24th delivered on the 29th with automated feedback received today.  Seems like a quick turn around.
