I know I am not the only one....

So sales have been pretty slow. I get about 5 a week average, sometimes less and sometimes maybe a few more. Wasn't like this over a year ago when I started. So I decided to try to other selling apps, (btw, really don't like apps but can use computer to list like ebay) and first week nothing, now I am getting 5-10 sales a day and only two weeks into it. I listed a few things that I had listed here before. Each item I have 1-5 views on ebay each time I listed, other place I am getting over 100 views. I thought maybe ebay was not the only online site that had slow sales, figured it was everyone, but I was wrong!! Don't know if I am going to stick around here too much longer, or the least downgrade my store.

That's quite a difference in views.  Congratulations on your sales!

Often times, this time of year, people are knee deep in trying to get their taxes done.  Until they know where they stand with their taxes, they tend to not spend money they don't absolutely have to.

This year with all the tax changes of last year, the middle class is starting to find out those changes weren't exactly as advertised and lots of people are not getting the refunds they thought they were.  It has become more complicated than they thought and some are getting some unpleasant and unwelcome surprises.

If you want to call it a recession just do it.  That's how the last one got started.

It seems the OP is doing better elsewhere, but I wonder if perhaps he is enjoying that honeymoon period of great sales that new sellers enjoy here.  Increased visibility can lead to more sales.  It's possible.

Maybe, But I sure am happy. Even if it was one sale a day it is better than here. I still going to stay with ebay but not investing as much time as I was. I just keep adding a couple new things on here every couple days to try n keep things fresh and not just relist. I had to try out something else, just got so slow here. Got tons of watchers , not many views tho per listing. As we all know usually watchers are just that. Oh well, just going to keep trying out new things. Other seems to be working out right now.

From what I have seen and observed over the past 5-8 or 10 or so years...

The race is over.

The rats won.

Oh, no worries; that was just speculation on my part.  Sales are cyclical, though, so that might be in there as well.  I understand you have to do what you have to do, and I hope that you continue to see great sales, and I am so glad you are happy!

What is a "selling app"? Do you mean an app that lets you list using a smart phone,  maybe on Ebay's big competitor?

You might want to google that

I know I am not the only one....

I made the move this summer to a cell phone selling app. Already have close to 500 sales on it since the summer! It's eBay that my items no longer sell on very well and I have more than one account here. I can sell everything and anything , same things I sell here (almost) on another site AND for more money. In days, not weeks or months.

Once I saw that young people DO buy all the things I have, I knew it was eBay. For me, a move to a smaller platform helped me survive. I now have a big store on that site and use this site to mostly list things that don't sell over there.

I stay here because I get some sales and it feeds my Paypal account so I can buy 🙂 Not necessarily here anymore, I cannot find what I want easily here so much of the time now I am taking my buying money off this platform too.

It's pretty obvious when I have sales every single day on another site with the exact same items (Cross posted!), that eBay is over for me. It's not my items, its not my prices (except here on the race to the bottom site where you have to give it all away), it's not the age of the buyers.

It is eBay. Same items sell fast on other site, same or higher prices, everything is the same down to my ads and photos.

Here all I seem to get now is watchers who never buy even if the price is dropped or make an offer is added.

2) Low ball offers from people who have no intention of buying it at a reasonable price. This week a woman messaged me asking if I would consider opening up an item to make an offer. She didn't offer me anything in the message. I said it is about to sell, but I did switch on make an offer as she didn't answer back. Item is a vintage artist piece, already sold the other at full price. Bam. $5. Decline. $6 Decline, $7 Decline and block. Why not just ask me, "Will you give this away for $5 so I can sell it somewhere else?" instead of making a huge game out of it at my expense? TIME WASTERS! Auto decline added. Getting rid of make an offer, it gets me more garbage than sales.

3) Nonsense , constant nonsense. I am currently waiting on a woman who bid on a lapel pin. Sold for $2. She actually wants to come to my house to pick it up so she doesn't have to pay shipping. Seriously?! A buyer bids on an auction that is not local pick up and seriously expects me to wait at my house for her? I looked at her account, she is not poor and neither is the house she lives in. Just cheap beyond all belief. For $2??

So far, she has not paid for the pin, since I told her local pick up was not an option. ;(

eCommerce is very fluid. What worked last month may not work today- it takes a lot of effort to keep up. You found what works on another venue- nice job. Now evaluate if there are changes you can make to replicate that sales volume on eBay. If eBay isn't the hot spot for your product today that doesn't mean it won't be in another month. My business plan changes throughout the year as the eCommerce market changes. I've learned to roll with the punches.

Or a ruse, however looking at the op's 'tude further down ...

Actually...

And I do sense a 'tude thou that one gets to me too but not for the reasons you mentioned.

No, the only reason I can see for someone wanting to pick it up local is so they can file an Item Not Received case later since the seller will have absolutely no way to prove the item was shipped, and without delivery confirmation showing the item was delivered ebay's MBG will pull the money right out of your account.

That, on top of wasting your time...

All over a $2 item.

Yes, that one gets to me too.
