I just dodged a few negative feedbacks

This morning a buyer messages me asking for a shipping discount. I gave him an additional discount for multiple items. He gives a snarky reply calling me "skeevy" incorrectly thinking I'm taking advantage of him saying the additional items should have free shipping.

This point I know I'm blocking this buyer solely for his attitude. I check his feedbacks left and he has given a good amount of doozie red donuts. I then reply thanking him for helping me dodge potential multiple negative feedbacks. I sarcastically mention that he can look at my many free shipping listings which, according to his logic, I should be losing money every time I ship them out.

The still arrogantly replies calling me skeevy (word of the day folks) and tells me we both know that I'm making more money by backloading the price on shipping trying to circumvent ebay fees. Yes he still thinks ebay doesn't charge FVFs for shipping.

I enjoy these occasional confrontations with these BBL buyers. Skeevy out!

It’s a bad idea to **bleep** off nutcases because they can mess with your account using a different ID.

And your exchange really isn’t anything to brag about - you lowered yourself to his level and it didn’t even work to make you feel better - you’ve let him rent space in your head for free, or you wouldn’t need to post about it.

My guess is the BBL will be gone in less than a year.

I beg to differ. If my post helps just one seller avoid caving into bullying buyers like this, it would make me feel immensely more satisfied than I already am. I've never been worried about my sales for awhile now.

The only thing I love more than a customer trying to tell you something you know that isn't true is a forum poster doing it.

No offense to anyone, what @this*old*attic says is still very true in many ways and I welcome the input/advice. I just believe it to be case by case. I'm just saying that most sellers have more strength than they actually think... and I want to remind us of that.

As another poster mentioned... I probably wouldn't have intentionally ticked this buyer off, it can just lead to things you don't want to happen.  I have to sit on my hands when things like this happen.

How were you able to dodge a bullet if he had already purchased?

If he already purchased, it would require more work to dodge the bullet. I've been having a pretty good track record for removing negative feedback when I feel it applies. Not sure if it's because of my concierge service or what. But it's still won't be as easy as if the buyer isn't able to leave feedback in the first place... like if they didn't buy anything.

Whoops sorry I read your message incorrectly... to clarify, the buyer sent me the message prior to purchasing anything. They didn't buy anything from me.

Yes, I did get lucky this time. If it weren't for the buyer's tone in messages, I may have not bothered to check their feedbacks.

GOT IT!!!!!!!

You are so very lucky.  I probably still wouldn't get into a tingling match with such a person even if they haven't purchased and are blocked... You just never know when you're going to run into someone who is truly unstable and how far they are willing to take something.  It can feel really good at the time, but then comes that uh oh moment.  YMMV

I've actually been posting in another thread where several posters are arguing that CS is removing negatives or neutral for the wrong reasons.  They feel it is wrong to remove FB left for crazy reasons such as buyer thought they were buying a lawnmower but the listing was for scuba diving equipment

Yes, your points are valid and smart. In some cases I follow those points. Would a buyer likely retaliate when you give no reason for them to? Yes of course they'll most likely leave you alone. It's a matter of thresholds. Some buyers can think simply just not agreeing to their free shipping demand/discount is reason enough to retaliate. Everyone's line is different. I respect that. The outcome is very YMMV. The only true way to avoid these attacks is to not sell here.

I do remember that feedback saying but I heard it as buying a motorcycle and leaving negative saying that you can't take the motorcycle to go scuba diving, haha.

YEAH, I switched it up a bit.  The motorcycle/scuba diving saying belongs to a friend of mine.... He uses it all the time.
