I don't want a defect and the buyer is fine with this. How do I create a return label if I'm not issuing the return from Ebay? Do I do it through PayPal? USPS? I searched online about this and the information I found was outdated. Please help me.

You can create a label via Paypal or any 3rd party shipping vendor such as PirateShip.com. I can never find the shipping label page on Paypal, and PirateShip.com is free to join and offers the same online discounts as Paypal.

You can also use the Post Office website. You can make your label a PDF and send it to the buyer via email or you can print it off and mail it.

You can get it through paypal if you want and scan it and send it or take a picture with your phone and send it.
How are you communicating with your buyer? Is it through the eBay message system or private email, phone number?

You can CREATE the label right through eBay, save it as a PDF and email it to them. The defect ONLY comes >>IF<< he files a complaint through the eBay system. I have done this many times and never gotten a defect.
Simply find the listing, click print label, then change the "ship to" address to your own address. I always add "Prepaid return shipping label" to the address just so the post office is not confused.
Gets you the eBay discount and leaves a trail on your sales ticket to make it easy to track the return.
NO DEFECT THIS WAY
