I just thought I would share this story.
I came across these Claussen gummy pickles at my local store.
They were in a cute package that looked like a jar of pickles.
I did some calculating in my head and decided I could sell them on ebay and make my required profit margin.
So I bought them all, every last one.
I get home with them and my roommate brings to my attention that they are not pickle flavored, they were green apple flavored.
Gummy "pickles" that are not pickle flavored? What?
That changed my whole outlook on things.
I decided to list a few and return the rest.
They sold like crazy even though they were not pickle flavored.
So I went back and re-purchase them all again. I felt like an idiot.
They continued to sell like crazy for about 2 weeks, then sales just stopped.
I can't figure out why.
Now I'm stuck with a shipload of gummy pickles.
I'm not that worried as they have a very long expiration date (06-2025).
Hopefully I'll be able to sell them by then.
Happy holidays everyone!

LOL the apple/pickle bubble burst!
No but seriously, before you listed any, did you check to see if others were already selling them, and if so, for how much? Then when your sales of them stopped, did you check to see if more people were selling them, and for how much?
I'm just thinking if you saw them and thought the novelty of them was perfect for eBay, chances are others did too, right about the same time.

They are actually cool.
I love pickles.
I suggest opening one to see what they look like for buyers.
And post a photo of expired date. So cool.

At the time I was the only one.
A few have popped up since then, about the same price as mine, but have sold out.
Right now I think I am the only one.

Here's a photo since LAZYBONES here couldn't bother to post one, despite the obvious "I gotta see this" nature of the item in question. 😆
BTW when I first read your post, it flew right over my head that it's CLAUSSEN brand. So yeah what the heck -why DIDN'T they make them pickle flavored? Sounds gross to me but kids would LOVE it!

Thinking about buying some myself....but I buy enough already...darn...what a pickle.

I didn't want to be accused of trying to promote my item on the boards.

Excellent suggestions. I would want to see those things if I was considering buying.

Maybe people are buying the Christmas Edition packaging version? It's smaller but cheaper and you can hang it on a Christmas tree.
Also possible, if these are bought as stocking stuffers perhaps your location is now making your delivery estimate iffy for pre-Christmas delivery. (cross checked with your competition, no difference in the delivery estimate given by eBay so maybe not an actual issue other than buyers who just don't want to risk not getting it by the 23rd).
Or maybe you just filled all the needs of all the people who had an interest?

I could be wrong about this, but I think gummy candy might inherently HAVE to contain sugar, lots of it, or it wouldn't be gummy. Now, they could have made them sweet pickles. But then sweet pickles are disgusting. I assume the only people who like them are utter freaks. Like serial killers et al. So unfortunately I would have probably fallen back on 'green apple' as well.

No they have gummis that use artificial sweeteners like xylitol, or natural ones like stevia. The sugars don't have to make them chewy, its the gelatin that mzkes them gummi.

I have a new found respect for you and your knowledge of gummies. 😉

Here's some products you could cross-promote with your gummies
