So I have this vintage Remy Martin Cognac in a Baccarat bottle, un-opened, I want to sell. I went to set up my Listing through Sellersourcebook, but I got a decline saying it can not me listed at this time. I see bottles of wines for sale. There is a category for alcohol. Any body has an Idea what I need to do, would it help if I go to the hassle of contacting Ebay ?

You need to be licensed to sell booze as well as meet all the requirements to ship it. Shipping alcohol as a gift is a not the same as selling & shipping when purchased

You have to be an approved seller to sell alcohol here.
Back in the day the only restriction was that one could not sell anything that is available retail, but it has been tightened.
I gave up trying to explain to someone in Bangladesh or wherever that the beer I was selling was sold by bottlings, and once that bottling was gone, it was not available anywhere, they didn't bottle much and that particular bottling I was selling was GONE. I ended up just drinking the rest myself.

Working in a retail wine and alcohol shop...it would be impossible to sell on eBay for there are still laws in place since the prohibition era to transport booze to certain states from certain states.
eBay is open to all 50 states.
Large wine and alcohol shops might purchase it from you or know someone who might want it.
We sold an alcohol bottle for around $25,000. a while back. It's kind of like networking in the field.
And this buyer insisted on paying cash...needless to say one of us had to run to the bank to deposit the cash immediately.

I have done lots of research but can't find a way to sell it. I found one that Christies in NYC sold for $5.000 a few years ago. Several that are currently offered for sale are between 3-4K. My husband will put on Facebook Market place and see if this will work. I have no money invested it was a gift from a friend several years ago, she received as a wedding gift in 1965. it sure would help my Christmas.

Drink it and sell the empty bottle.

Don't get caught selling liquor without a licensee.

It is against Federal law to sell liquor without a license. What you need to do is empty all the liquor and then sell as "empty decanter".

You have to work with Christie's, or find another legit reseller.

No, eBay does not allow collectable booze on it's site. They worry it could be purchased by an under aged buyer. Have to find another venue to sell it in.

Keep in mind the Christies price included their commissions and proper paper work to sell liquor, and I think they had to pay a tax as well in the location/state that it was sold in. BTW, for collectible liquor it may not be just a sales tax but a capital gains tax too. I'd be afraid to put it on line, it may be a lightning rod right to you.
