I recently had 2 LG water filters for your fridge removed. They were both sealed and in the box. They had LG all over the box, I had a UPC number, etc. There was never a red flag at all to me. I’ve sold water filters before on EBay with no issues. Is there something that I should have noticed that would have alerted me these items were a no? I’m feeling kind of dumb right now but not sure why. I certainly don’t want any bad marks on my account or sell something I should not be selling. I appreciate all help.

They probably are real, LG just doesn't want them sold on eBay. Or at least doesn't want their name and trademarks used. Which often extends to the model number.
Sell them on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace or something, you can't relist them here.

Obviously they are a part of the Vero program so any LG related items will be pulled.
AFAIK Vero is specifically eBay so should be okay on other sites

Just don't relist them. Doing so will not be good for you.

Welcome to the entity called Ebay.

It doesn't matter why but LG just doesn't want you to sell LG filters.
You can fight it but the process is designed so the average seller gives up because the chance of winning or even getting someone to respond is statistically zero.
You are better off sinking the time into finding something else to sell.

I like when the manufacturer buys its own stuff from the sellers on Ebay, instead of banning. I had that happen once.

Are you sure it was VeRO? What did the VeRO takedown message say?
Despite what others have said, it's irrelevant that a company may not want its items resold on ebay. If an item is authentic and you obtained it by legitimate means, First Sale Doctrine allows you to resell it.
Did you use LG's stock images?
If so, that's a violation because those images are the intellectual property of the company.
Did you copy and use LG's description?
Again, that's a copyright violation.
But if you used your own pictures, wrote your own description in your own words and if the filters are absolutely authentic, you can respond to the VeRO notice.

I bought a nice fench door LG stainless model when I redid my kitchen back in 2009.
the 1st thing I did was list the unused filter in the box.I was never going to need it and was glad to get the $30 for it

I had not planned on relisting them. I’m just trying to understand why this was an issue with these 2 products. I did not realize that LG products were not allowed on EBay.

Not planning on fighting it, was just trying to understand the situation. I have plenty to sell, never a problem.

Here was the email I received. I’m not understanding how my items were counterfeit. I used my own photos, and my own description. The UPC matched and everything seemed normal. My original question was how to spot an item that is counterfeit. I have sold other filters (new and sealed) and have never had any issues, I’m not going to dispute anything, just trying not to make the same mistake down the road. Is there any info on EBay that explains to you what to look for on your items? Thank you for your response.

I can't answer your question, but I can tell you I bought some and they did not work. They made my water dispenser make a horrible noise. I change it out and it took about 2 days before it did it again. I bought a 6 pack and went through 3 before throwing the rest out. I did not realize they could be counterfeit I just thought I had a bad batch. Makes sense now.

Those probably were not counterfeit, they were just typical LG products which are junk. The only thing worse than an LG product is an LG warranty.
Anything made by LG should go straight from the manufacturer to the scrap yard for recycling.

OOOO ok. I'll just junk the fridge then.
