Hello,
So I sold this item and in the listing it was plainly stated that it was untested and had been in storage for several years. It was sold through eBays international shipping program so I just ship it to eBay and they take care of shipping it off to the buyer. I later received this message from eBay about the sale. The buyer contacted me and said it didn't work and and demanded a refund I sent them a copy of the message that eBay had sent to me. Today I noticed that the customer left negative feedback on my account and said some nasty things about us. Will eBay take down the negative feedback? I did exactly what eBay told me to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Why would you sell/ship an untested item for that price?
eBay handled the refund but I believe you're stuck with the FB.
Not trying to add salt to the wound but the FB was honest & factual. No?

You listed the item as USED.

I see you have a lot of items listed.
First off, I wouldn't even sweat the negative. Before you know it, it will drop down and be gone. They have a right to say what they said, and I doubt eBay will remove it.
Future note:
ANY item you list if you cannot verify its functional and working, don't list it as Used. List as Parts Only instead.
Obviously this is mostly going to apply to items like this, where it has to be set up, powered up, and tested. If you can test something, that helps. But to minimize the misconception that some buyers will have (because they may not see the full description thanks to the eBay app), list untested electronics and similar with the Parts Only option. I sometimes even include the words (See description for details) in the listing name to try to minimize errors. But some people just don't read, click buy and then get a reality check later, that they will then blame you for.

I guess I can't argue with what y'all are saying about it being listed as used. It was stated under item condition that it had been in storage for several years and that it was untested. We sell stuff that is often decades old and fortunately we don't get many returns. In the rare cases that it doesn't work out for the buyer if they say it doesn't work I will often tell them not to send it back and just refund their money. I've had cases where they say the item didn't fit like they thought it would etc. I just tell they to ship it back when that happens. According to eBay the customer is going to get a refund so I don't see the point of leaving the negative feedback.

Hi @madssurplus
I’m also baffled why you listed the item as you did … sold it to an international buyer … and don’t understand what you did wrong.
You surely have been blessed if this is your first negative feedback. You have had feedback revised in the past … so you must know how it’s done.
I recommend you apologize to the buyer for listing the item (condition) in a way that promises a ‘working’ item without knowing whether it really worked.
You are completely in the wrong. Don’t contact the buyer until you realize that. Then maybe they’ll forgive you and revise the neg. Good luck!

Thanks for everybody's input. I appreciate the quick response:)

I believe the FB will be removed if you open an appropriate case. No seller should receive negative FB for an EIS sale, even if they deserve it.

It was my understanding of the EIS system that the negative feedback is automatically scrubbed in due time after the transaction runs it's course.

Nothing is sold as-is with no returns on ebay, not even if listed for parts only. Best to just discard in the future.

I read through this entire policy and there are cases when eBay will remove FB for EIS sales but I don't see any that would make this seller's FB removable.
I see it for delivery issue but not condition/NAD issues.

I would argue that it falls under:
"An eBay Money Back Guarantee case or payment dispute was closed with the seller having met their obligations to the buyer"
As the seller "met their obligation" when the item was received by the hub. If it makes it to the hub all negs should be removed. Though I would use the removal form rather than wait for the bot to do it.

You listed this as used which means: The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.
You earned the negative fair and square. The buyer took the time to find the item, purchase it, wait for it to arrive and then find out its junk.

I suppose it's possible but that was under removal for delivery issues not condition/INAD issues.

The Best advise, Is do not post anything untested, You should alway's test a product to see if it functions properly, then list it accordingly, I'm afraid you are stuck with the outcome.
