I bought shoes but the listing does not have Authenticity Guarantee

I just recently bought TS Jordan 4s off of eBay that do not have “Authenticity Guarantee” in the listing. During the time I bought them, I guess I didn’t clearly read the listing, as I was viewing many other shoe listings at that time, and automatically assumed they had “Authenticity Guarantee”. So I sent my offer for the pair and the seller accepted, and the shoes are now headed towards me. I hope they arrive authentic, but I would like to assured that I am safe if they are replicas. I would like to know anyone’s thoughts, opinions, or similar experiences about my situation.

If the item arrives and it is not authentic, you can file a claim with eBay to return the item.  They are not going to an authenticator service because they are being shipped from out of the US.  That will make things a bit different should you have to file a claim, because the seller cannot send you a return label and will have to send you MONEY to return the product. 

For future reference, it is probably not a good idea to purchase from a new zero feedback seller who became registered a couple of weeks ago and is selling hundreds of dollars worth of designer goods.  New sellers are supposed to have selling/listing limits, so this looks a bit suspicious.

I have to agree with the other poster as I would be uncomfortable with a new seller who has multiple brand name items for sale.   If the sneakers are not authentic you will need to open a return with the reason 'doesn't seem authentic'.    If that happens or there are any other problems, please come back to the discussion board for advice as international returns can be more complicated than domestic returns.

They only offer authenticity guarantees on certain brands of shoes over a certain dollar amount, so not all shoes are going to  have this guarantee.

There are a number of exclusions that will prevent an item from being authenticated.

This could be a new seller. I like the fact you can see some hands in the photos. It is a new seller who opened an account this month. The photos seem real and down to earth. Seller is not listing one or two items which is a plus. However, a new seller will have to wait 30+ days for their funds. Interesting the seller mailed them right away. They usually don't do that. Watch tracking because there is a time frame to return and get a refund if not everything is as it is to be. And you might just have gotten a deal if it is a new seller. We all take chances in life. There is that refund you can get within a time period.

The authentication service is a charade anyway. people have gotten through fakes, as well as stock x, and goat. and real sneakers have been authenticated, and were determined to be fake. Because you know why? The fakes look exactly the same as the real ones.

authenticity program is not done by all sellers because many have experienced poor handling of their shoes, sent in authentic shoes obtained direct from the company and they were deemed  non-authentic by ebays so called "experts" - they have lost shoes, sent wrong shoes back etc... etc... the program is only as good as ones luck can be. But, this kind of thing isn't ebay alone, there are other marketplaces doing the same thing and are just as bad at authenticating things. If items are not what was described you can call ebay and get the MBG and think many sellers who sell items that can be authenticated but are not through this platform just figure that is fine and less hassle as they believe in their items to back it with returns accepted.

It was my understanding that for shoes that qualify, the seller in the US has no choice.  They have to use the authenticator program.  

The seller is in Portugal, been a member since June6, and up until a few minutes ago had a Zero feedback score.   FWIW, eBay doesn't require sellers from China to use the authenticator program either. A quick comparison to New In Box versions of the shoe in question suggests it was likely a "price to good to be true" issue as well.

No need to worry. eBay has an iron clad Money Back Guarantee that protects buyers. Should the shoes be fake, you will open a Not As Described case against the seller. Below is the info you will need to accomplish this.

Most transactions go off without a hitch, but it is still important to fully vet one’s sellers to avoid those few bad eggs. Good luck.

@ittybitnot so the help page for it says that there is no opt in or out, so apparently what they do is if it's over $75 it's opted in and when it sells the seller is provided a ship label with FedEx and it ships to ebay authentication. If the shoes are under $75 it doesn't get opted in, if the shoes have been customized it doesn't get opted in, etc... so to correct myself, it's mandatory for $75 or more on qualifying shoes. Don't sell shoes, so I had to update myself on the process. Seems to me a but backwards process, shoes should be authenticated first before sale... maybe that's where all the issues come from with the program.

UPDATE

As of today, the shoes came in and I did in fact receive some horrendous Travis Scott Jordan 4 fakes. I have been in contact with the seller, and the seller claims the shoes are real and accusing me for making “false claims” despite the evidence and reasoning I have sent them. I have opened a return request, now all I have to do is wait and hope I get my refund.

Is this the seller in Portugal? If the seller is outside of the US they will have to send you money for the return label or arrange a label through a courier.  If they don't refund and don't provide a label by a specific time frame you can ask customer service for help.
