ITEM: Hokkaido Melon KitKat bar from Japan.
I am sorry but this item is way way too small to be 8 dollars! I did not realize how tiny it is. If you could please give me at least a partial refund i would appreciate it. There is no way this should be 8 dollars though, it is like 50 cents worth of candy. I am sorry but I feel like it was misleading.
I told her the listing is 100% accurate.
It was not $8, it was $4. I had to pay to ship it to you.
The reason it's so expensive is because i had to fly to Japan to get it.
It's not something you can pick up at Walgreens.
So it cost me $3. I sold it for $4.
Let me know how much of a partial refund you want.
Do i stand my ground and risk a negative feedback or give in and give a partial refund?

Surprised you got a positive, if this is what you actually sent the buyer.
Yes, to the buyer it WAS $8. That's the total they paid. So that's what it costs. They don't care how much of that you got or how much the postal service or supplier got. They just care how much they paid.
Whether your response was intended as snarky or not, that's the way it comes across to me. Buyers don't care (nor should they) what your costs are. Trying to shame a buyer into going away because you chose to sell something with very little profit is not a good strategy.
Don't snark, don't lecture, don't justify. Especially when the buyer is whining about something stated in the listing (size). Keep it simple. Sorry you are not happy, return for refund. Repeat as necessary. (what? you can't? because you ate it? stinks to be you. - think that, don't write it.)

Hi, if this is a recurring issue, you might try placing a quarter or some other item in the photo that helps show scale. It is especially helpful for undersized things. Here in the States, we expect super-sized portions as the norm.

Yup. Size really does matter.
Most especially for undersized things.

"Hello, I bought your candy bar but i didn't receive the quarter in the picture."
LOL!
