Ebay just put me in an embarrassing position. I just sold two items to one buyer. When I looked for the items, I could not find them, and remembered that I had sold them a while ago. But he two t items were still in my active list and someone bought them. Why doesn't eBay move the sold items to the sold or ended list. This has happened to me several times before. It is embarrassing and frustrating. eBay charges us all kinds of fees, so we trust it could treat us more decently.

If this has happened to you several times before, going forward you might want to check your Items for Sale after each sale and make sure it's not still in your Active listings. This may well be an eBay glitch, but it's still your responsibility to make sure your Active listings match your inventory.

I have six selling accounts and have been selling actively on eBay since 2002 and never had this problem.
Are you sure that the quantity on the listing was set to 1 and not accidentally set to 2 or more?

I've been selling here for 20+ years.
I've made mistakes before but never had an item mysteriously list or re-list itself.
As someone else said, check and double-check your listings to make sure you actually have the item that is listed.

There have been many reports this past month of Ghost listings - most sold many months ago.
I know, we were hit with this recently as well.
Unfortunately, e-Bay knows that it occurs and yet, it still persists. Unfortunately, it must be a glitch of some sort to have several threads all in a row on the selling board stating the same thing.
Are these items you can resource from someone else?
If no, email your Buyer, apologize profusely for the issue and explain what occurred. Most Buyers are reasonable.
Good luck!

I have read many reports of this happening. Though I must say, I have been selling since 97 & I have never once had it happen. Though I read about it every day on here. I suspect user error in the vast majority of those cases.
eBay DOES move them to the SOLD list. Some people swear that these 'ghost' listings reappear occasionally in ACTIVE. Though you can see from this thread, several long time, very active sellers saying, it's never happened to them.

has happened to me several times. I write the buyer explaining what happened and ask the buyer for their permission to cancel and refund them. If they agree you have a right to cancel with the reason buyer asks for cancellation. Many buyers are understanding

Since many state it's never happened;
But maybe...
Something to do with Out Of Stock?
I know that I show 10 of all my items at first, then I'll sell 4 and when the GTC relists, it resets to 10 (sometimes?)
I would guess it could be easy to just see the 'total' of items listed for sale, and look at that each day when you look at sales to see if 499 turned into 498 etc. If not, look for the item that "just sold"?

Maybe. I have never had it happen in 25 years & I also sell one-offs, so have almost never used the "stock" option. Perhaps a correlation.
