I am LOST someone HELP ME with REAL answers PLEASE

I have been working long hours, so i have tried to look into the so called "Free returns", but keep getting different answers.  So if someone has the actual facts, then THANK YOU! in advance.

I already have 30 day returns, i do next day ship, i am in compliance and am a top rated power seller.  I do get a 10% discount.  

A friend is telling me if i dont do free returns, i will lose my discount, and status.

Ebay is telling me "no" i won't.  That i just won't get there so called "better placement".  

So, what is the facts?  Will i be penalized for not doing Free returns?  Lose my status and discount?

Sorry but your 100% wrong. You MUST offer Free Returns on Books to get a badge on the listings. 

Now this may be a glitch I dont know but on my listings this is what I see

If i list a book regardless of the shipping and it has free returns. I get the Badge. 

Same book, same listing revised to Paid returns. NO Badge. 

Thats pretty simple. Check for yourself. List a book with 30 day returns and money back option but the buyer pays the return and you should not see the badge. You might get the discount but no badge is displayed. Now chage your listing and only chage the free returns option. You will see the badge now.

This one has 30 day returns with paid shipping but it does offer the Free returns. And it has the badge.  So regardless of the discount if you get it or not. If you want to see a TRS badge you MUST offer Free Returns. EVEN WITH BOOKS....

Thanks for the examples. I have asked eBay reps to have a look at this and clarify how this should be working. Either the programming is broken or the Help needs revision. I will post back when I hear more.
