Had an auction won by a buyer in Florida several days prior to Irma. Minor item ($20 or so shipped). No communication since.
This is a experienced Ebay'er.
Sent an PM indicating I would cancel the sale, or handle however they wished. Nada in return.
Under the circumstances, I do not wish to open an unpaid item case, in the event this person was negatively affected by Irma, and add to their woes.
Thoughts on how to handle this????

Thanks for everyone's thoughts.
As luck would have it, buyer paid about 2.5 hours after this original post.
What a coincidence.

I just thought of a good idea. You could cancel the sale with the reason as problems with the address. That way no hit to the buyer's account, and you don't get charged fees. Then you could send them a message that although you cancelled the sale, you will hold the item for them until x date.

That's great. You said up top that the buyer was experienced at eBay, so likely paid you the moment he got service connection again. Sounds like you're Good to Go.
