I don't think that they have a US only default for buying.
Ebay probably does not want to do that, they don't want to limit some overseas sellers items for sale views so you would have to do it yourself each time you do a search.

In reality, there is no way.
Anybody in a foreign country that has a US address (freight forwarder, relative, etc.) can avoid any attempt to limit to US selling only.

Thanks. I understand. The ‘worldwide’ default is driven by Chinese sellers who would lose A LOT of business. They must have A LOT of influence due to their low prices and large inventory to sell.

If you are asking about filtering searches for items you are buying:
It is not possible to set the "Item Location: US only" as a default search option, but one thing you can do is create a search using sample keywords, and save or bookmark the search results page. If you then use that saved or bookmarked search results page as the starting point for your new searches, and just change the keywords, your following searches will maintain that "US only" filter.
Keep in mind that the "Item Location" is specified by the seller, and not every seller will necessarily be forthcoming about where they are shipping from. You may want to look at the seller's feedback page to check where the seller's account was registered and also check seller feedback for indications that the seller is shipping from another location.
Estimated shipping time is often a good indication of how far away items ship from.
When faced with a long list of search results that you want to quickly filter for sellers that can ship and deliver quickly, the Guaranteed Delivery setting is one very crude option worth considering; sellers that ship from overseas rarely qualify.

Once you type in the name of the item you are searching, on the left side of the screen scroll down. You will see a box you can check to search US ONLY. That is the only way to see US sellers only. 99% of the time it works great but you should still check the listing itself to make sure it is a USA seller.
