How to put a complain about an ebay customer service rep

Is there a way to complain about an eBay representative? He was rude to me on the phone. We were on the call for 1 hour and didn't resolve my issue. And was rude saying he couldn't understand my accent. I spoke with three other representatives the same day, and they all understood me very well.

He was incompetent and bad at his job.

how can I put a complain?

How to put a complain about an ebay customer service rep

@Anonymous, this kind of question does come up on the boards.  What is the proper procedure for a buyer/seller to follow when such a problem is encountered?  Thanks.

Hi @tiramisu41, when a poor experience occurs with one of our Customer Service representatives a buyer or seller would be able to report this in a few different ways;

  • While on the phone a member of our Leadership Team could be requested to address the situation and provide appropriate coaching.
  • Another Customer Service agent could take this report and ensure the call is reviewed by leadership for appropriate coaching.
    • This could either be through an additional phone call to Customer Service or by contacting our Customer Service teams on Social Media.
    • The Community Team is also happy to review a phone call for appropriate next steps if we can get the date and time of the call.

We never like to hear that a conversation with eBay has gone poorly and will work to minimize the chances of this happening again in the future while also double checking the topic at hand to provide accurate info!

Also make sure you ask the agent you plan on reporting for the SR (Service Request) number for the phone call. That way when you call back to report the agent, you have an ID so the reporting agent can look up the call record.

Thanks for the info, @Anonymous.

@effie*s_trinkets, when Trinton says:

he means one of the eBay staff who sometimes visit these forums (Trinton is one) would be happy to review your experience and take the appropriate steps if you let him know the date/time of your call which was unsatisfactory.

I think you mean a complaint.  You can write a letter to Ebay headquarters in San Jose, and identify the rep by name and the conversation number.

Just want to point out that even though three other reps did understand, there is no guarantee that everyone will if you have an accent.  I don't know that I would consider that rude, maybe that was an explanation as to why he couldn't resolve your issue.

I'd let it go, but your call.  I understand you are upset, and I am sorry this happened to you, but sometimes things just happen~and we may have taken things the wrong way because we were already upset.

trinton@ebay,

I had a very unpleasant phone call once with an eBay customer service representative.  She was rude and hostile, which really took me by surprise.  I asked her to transfer me to a supervisor and she wouldn't do it.  I asked if there was a supervisor there, and she said, "of course there's a supervisor here."  She then told me she wouldn't transfer me unless I told her what I was going to say to the supervisor.  I replied, "please transfer me to a supervisor."  She asked me what I was going to say.   I repeated, "please transfer me to a supervisor," and she said, "Stop repeating yourself."  She then hung up on me.

There are nice ways to say things, he could have asked me to speak slower instead. But he chose to be rude

I absolutely agree with you; there are nice ways to say things.  But he may not have been able to understand you any better even if you were speaking slower.

It seems you are sensitive about your accent, and I understand.  But, I'm sorry I cannot understand you, while it might have been nicer, boils down to the same thing.   It seems you are offended because he couldn't understand you, but again, not everyone will be able to understand an accent.   I'm sorry you were offended.

Not uncommon that employees within organizations when they belive you will file a complaint about their performance will not be accommodating and of assistance to you.

"We never like to hear that a conversation with eBay has gone poorly and will work to minimize the chances of this happening again in the future while also double checking the topic at hand to provide accurate info!"

That is an obvious lie. Ebay customer service has be horrendous for years, and has never gotten any better.  If anything it has gotten worse. Ebay does not work to do anything for its sellers unless it makes ebay more money Telling people how to make a complaint is just wasting their time. Same as the surveys, its all just gimmicks.

Is it correct to assume the Leadership Team is in the same country as the customer service? Same building, same room? Making it about as flawed/useless as customer service.

Is there any way to talk to US based customer service?
