How to handle this one

I have a buyer who messaged me about one of the four shirts they received and claims it as defective (photos provided). The photos were a bit close up to the shirt and to me it seems possible that the shirt in the photo isn't one of the shirts we sell based on the fabric style, I wasn't quite sure. So I asked for photos of the tags and care label.

In the meanwhile in a separate thread of messages, he claims his entire isn't 2XL as advertised, but they are 3XL. Again, I ask for photos of the tags and care labels. He says they don't have any. This confuses me more so I attach a sample photo of the tags on the shirts we have here as reference for him to look for and show me a photo of his. He comes back with multiple photos of the shirts with missing tags where the tags should be. The photos were a bit blurry so I was unable to see if they were in fact our shirts by details. They could very well be our shirts with all the tags carefully torn off the neckline.

I'm curious about the weird defect on the first shirt photo and if these shirts are really ours, but not curious enough to pay for shipping the shirts back to me especially since none of them have tags. I then realize this buyer bought from me in 2022 and left a weird negative that got scrubbed. Back then they bought a white shirt, and messaged (and negged me) saying that they expected the white shirt to be more of a gray color and the shirt was "too white". They never filed a return back then despite me telling them to file one. I guess I never blocked them.

I kinda want to BBL them now, but here comes the whole BBL messaging issue again kyle@ebay @wastingtime101

Oh man - neg FB for a white shirt being too white. Buyers today are killing me.

Thank you for bringing up the BBL message block again.

I got a trashed return today. Fortunately not literal trash like another seller on the returns board. Well, the item they returned is going in the literal trash as it cannot be resold or donated, but it's not from the buyer's trash bin like that other seller. Should I see that as a plus? 😂

I wonder if my buyer files returns for his entire order, will he choose remorse (doesn't fit) or the dreaded not as described. Based off his messages, he should at least file remorse for 3 out of the 4 returns.

That made me think, could that possibly be why the buyer removed all the tags and claimed they were never there in the first place? So he can just "claim" I sent him the wrong size versus claiming that he just got something that didn't fit him (thus not checking the size chart inch measurements)? Hm, that can be a new remorse/not described loophole there. Pull off the tags so there's no proof that you were actually sent the correct size.

I think you have answered your own question but I feel for you.

Removing the size/ care tags on all of the shirts sounds fishy to me. They are a great identifier as most people know. I suspect the buyer is angling for a full or partial refund on the shirts.

I take all the tags off my shirts and pants and anything there is a tag on...my skin is real sensitive.

I don't think buyer took off tag on purpose.

There are 'irregulars' of items which are sold at a deep discount at stores like Ross.

Surprise buyer even took photos and such.

I would have refunded the one shirt and left it as that.

Buyer bought in 2022 and left a weird feedback...and you can remember it after the high-volume sales you do? I would never remember anything back in 2022.

But I do have hundreds on my block buyer list.

I had a few try to buy again and ask why they are blocked...and I tell them I don't know...LOL

I try to make a buyer happy no matter if they are wrong...feedbacks and 'repeat buyers' are high on my list.

@iamalwaysright  I think you're right & they removed the tags to purposely claim SNAD.  Almost positive.  In fact, it's a trick we clothing sellers use sometimes for used items.  If an item's measurements are WAY off the tag sized, b/c it shrunk or something like that, I was taught as a trick to remove the tag.  Of course we still put in measurements in the listing.  I've used it a couple of times & it's been very helpful.  Unfortunately, this guy is using it for nefarious purposes.   IF it's even your items.

At this point, no case opened yet, I would ask for clearer photos to stall & also ask if he ordered similar shirts from someone else b/c you double checked your inventory & you are 100% certain you sent him XYZ (assuming you are) & that ALL your shirts have labels/tags, so it's impossible that they're yours.   Kinda lets him know you're onto him, if he is trying to mess w/you & he either is or he's confused due to mulitple orders.  I would def BBL him.   I might even add that he's bougth from you before & so you know he's familiar with your product.

That is a very good way to avoid confusion or ways buyers can manipulate a possible return.
Thanks for hipping us to that little trick.

Kudos 👍
