I have 3 items that are the same except for color, and I cannot figure out how to make a single listing so that color choice is an option.
I tried using the "Advanced Tool", I think it's called, but it ends up asking me to select an "Iternational" destination.
This is the first time I've tried to sell more than one item in the same listing. I just need to know the simplest way to do this.

Your need to do a Variation Listing.
Not all categories support Variation lisings.

I've been to this page before, but I do not understand and do not know where to find these places mentioned in the advice:
"You can create and manage your variations through the quick listing tool, the advanced listing form, or Seller Hub. Each tool will walk you step-by-step through the process."
Is there a way to get step by step instructions?
This is not an 'Auction' item, which I think was mentioned for not being capable of 'variations' possibilities.

After you enter the title go to CREATE VARIATIONS.
Then see if COLOR is listed. if it is you can click on color and you will be prompted to add the various colors.
If there is no option for COLOR then click in ADD. This will allow you to then add the colors you need.
It toke me many times at first to figure this out but I finnaly figured it out.
Good Luck.

That's just the thing, after I enter the title, all I get is "category". I don't see anything for "variations".

You would have to pick the Category first because not all support Variations.
If after picking the Category you can't find the Variation option it might be because you are using a category that doesn't support them.
Which category are you trying?
eBay used to show a list of Categories but since most now support it they seem to have dropped it.
If you plug this into Google "create a variation listing on eBay" you will get many pages with instructions, some of these may be more detailed than the current help page.
Sorry I can't be more specific but I've never used Variation listings.

I'm trying to sell 3 cell phones. The first category is already selected as "Cell Phones and Accessories" because it is a 'bundle' type item. I also went to a secondary category "Cellphones and Smartphones" in the hopes I would get something about variations but it didn't help.

I checked for categories allowing variations and found this:
https://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/sellingresources/multiplevariationslist.html
But it calls it "Multi-Variations. No difference I guess.

Lets see if this helps you. The steps you need are as follows:
Click on “Sell” at the top of any page. This brings up “Tell us what you are selling page” (and click on Switch to Advanced Listing Tool if it appears in the top right corner). Next click “Browse categories.” Then choose the categories of “Cell phones and accessories”, then “Cellphones and smartphones.”
You will be automatically directed to the Create Your Listing page. Scroll down to the heading “Format” and be sure to select “Fixed Price.” Now scroll back up and you will see a box with blue lettering labelled Create Variations. It is found directly under the Title boxes.
Click the variations box and the next page appears to set up your choices. Good luck!

Ok! Thanks a lot.
I guess I must have somehow clicked on something in the "International" section without realizing it. But this time I made sure nothing in that section was used.
Thanks to all for your patience and advice.

Hope someone is still subscribed.
I just listed another item with the same variation needed, namely "color", but whereas with the first one, somehow or other it worked, it isn't working with this listing. I'm talking about when selecting a color, the image of the chosen color automatically becomes the main image, and gives the buyer confirmation that we are talking about the same thing. I have no idea, really, how it worked with the first listing; so now I have no idea how to fix this listing.
