How to deal with this return request?

Buyer is requesting an item for being defective and not functional. My description of the item clearly states that it is not working / for parts. Buyer also attached an image of my actual description of the ebay purchase on the request claim. The image the buyer attached is contradicting to what the actual return request of the buyer. Also the return request was issued 1 day before it being 30 days since of purchase which is fishy to me. Is there any way I can contact Ebay support?

Re: How to deal with this return request?

When a buyer claims Not As Described, eBay takes their word for it. There’s really no fighting it, you just have to decide if you want to pay for return shipping or refund without requiring them to return it. Contacting customer support will not help you.

If you want it returned before refunding, you don't want to get Ebay involved in the return.

Accept the return and provide a shipping label.

@extratoast3d

Since the Ebay MBG overrules your listing information, accept the return before it gets ugly for you, unless you don't want it back. Then just issue a refund

I tried waiting one out last year. Either refund or tell them to initiate a return because you will be refunding.

Handle this just like the buyer is 100% correct (even though you know he is not).

Accept the return. Do not dispute it. Do not contact ebay.

You will lose and you may end up losing the money AND the item.

Re: How to deal with this return request?

I just don't understand how this is fair. If an item is bought as not working, how is eBay still able to give the buyer an option for "defective" when requesting a return. So is ebay telling me I'm able to buy something that is listed as not working then return it because I found it defective?

It is not fair.

and yes, you can do that just as demonstrated by your buyer.

not that it is the case with you as a seller, but if eBay did not provide buyer protection there are lowlifes out there that would list a "for parts or not working" widget and send a box of empty candy wrappers.

Does not matter what your listing stated or what the specifics of the return case state. If the buyer somehow was not able to get a refund thru the ebay return case, they can do to their credit card issuer and get a refund that way and it will hit your eBay account.

The return system is automated.  No one at eBay will check or weigh any evidence.

Same basic rules for any selling venue that accepts credit cards. Buyers are protected.  Sellers are not.

Ebay got back to me and has issued the buyer no refund. Guessing the buyer will go talk to the credit card issuer now. Well see how this goes lol

Re: How to deal with this return request?

Take the return.  BTW, I'm always curious about "not working, buy for parts"...what if the part I bought it for is not a working part?

As everyone has said, accept the return

Are you saying that eBay has officially closed the return case?

There's a difference between not working and being defective.

Not working, means it doesn't work.

Defective could mean, pieces are missing, it has a crack that wasn't mentioned.

Is it for the single camera or the pair?
