How to create a classified ad for digital items?

I am trying to list an Online Gaming Virtual Item (electronically delivered item).  It says on eBay's help page about listing digital items that,

• Sellers not approved by eBay to list electronically delivered items need to list their items in the Everything Else > Information Products category in the classified ad format

It also says on this same help page that, 

• Exceptions to this policy include electronically delivered:
  
  • Online gaming virtual items 

Then on the eBay's Selling With Classified Ad help page it says to select Classified Ad in the format section, but there is no format section available. The only "format" selection is in the Item Specifics section, under Additional. It will let me type "classified ad" in and enter it there, but it doesn't change the ad to the classified format, it only displays the entered text "classified ad" in the item specifics section of the ad. I have tried listing this in the "Everything Else > Information Products > Other Information Products" section. I also tried it in "Everything Else > Information Products > How-To Guides > Game Mastery". As well as "Everything Else > Information Products > Wholesale Lots > Consumer Electronics", and none of these sections have the option to change it to a classified ad. I see other Electronically Delivered Online Gaming Virtual Items listed as classified ad for sale in the same category (Everything Else > Information Products > Other Information Products). Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue and create a classified ad?

Do you have the rights to sell the digital item?

In the listing type, there should be an option for classified ad.

If it's in the right category, you should have 3 options, buy it now, auction and classified ad.

You know they charge 9.95 a month and you have to pay it up front.

I figured it out!

For anyone having this same issue. You have to click on "Switch to business tool" at the top of the page, and then confirm the switch (you dont need an ebay business account to do this).

Then in the pricing section, right below where it says format. It gives you the option to select either auction, buy it now, or classified ad. 

Select classified ad and you're good to go.

Oh, and the answer is no, he doesn't have the right to sell it. It violates the EULA of the account he wants to sell.  However that is also the case with 99 percent of the games that people sell items and accounts for, and is really a case of the company covering themselves from gambling laws.

Do people really pay big dollars for game accounts locked onto console hardware? I can understand PC hardware as the game might be alive for decades, but those X-Box one servers are going to be shut down eventually.

I figured it out. 

With the quick listing tool (or default listing page) it wont let you change to a classified ad. You have to click on "Switch to business tool" at the top of the page, and confirm the switch. Then in the pricing section, right below where it says format. It gives you the option to select either auction, buy it now, or classified ad and you can access it from there.

I've used the business tool for years, so didn't even think about having to switch to it.

Digital delivered items are restricted and your account can be closed for doing so.  If you do not own the rights to what ever it is you're considering to sell,  you cannot sell it on eBay.  And just because others are doing it, doesn't make it right or permitted.  They just haven't been caught....yet.  

Consider selling something else.

eBay's policy on electronically delivered items is carefully written to protect eBay from liability. It is not written to protect sellers, and it doesn't protect sellers from eBay either.

Even though the policy says:  "Exceptions to this policy include electronically delivered: ... Online gaming virtual items ...", that does not mean that sellers are free to list or sell online game accounts or online gaming virtual items if the terms and conditions of the game do not permit them to be sold outside the game.

I'm not aware of any online games that allow accounts or online gaming virtual items to be sold off-site. Some may allow them to be transferred within the game, but that doesn't mean you are allowed to sell them for money/profit/gain outside the game.

I'm afraid that's why your classified ad listing for a D&D Neverwinter account and in-game items has been deleted from the site:
