I have one buyer of multiple items who requested combined shipping after they paid for all items and naturally needs a refund on the unused over-payment. Is there a way to place all orders into one package for shipping using one tracking number for all orders? I did not require immediate payment on any item purchased.
And how to make a partial refund without hurting myself? is that possible?
I know how to send a combined invoice before they pay and then have one label; but sending everything in one shipment after payment is made, I am confused about. I really hate to refund and ask him to repay as that seems unprofessional and now involves a loss of fees over the sale. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can do what some of my sellers have done. Send all items in one package and put in the same tracking number for each item. According to what I order, the seller may have posted how much extra for shipping for each additional item.
As for the refund, it does not have to be the exact amount of the overage. Find out the total cost and return the amount you want to refund. Check to see what your costs would be in the refund so as not to short yourself. Feel free to keep a couple dollars for yourself. You do not have to refund every penny.

For me ebay has always picked up on it being the same buyer and will have a notation when I go to select an item to print the label for me to combine.
If this doesn't happen for you then you can just combine them in the same package and manual add the tracking to all the items .
Refunding shipping difference I do via Paypal , be aware you don't get any fee refunds.
Also just so ebay knows why there is any type of refund I always hit contact member via the item and send a message about this being a refund for lower or combined shipping

I'm confused. Is your question about how to process a refund for shipping overages or how to ship multiple items in the same package with one tracking number? Or are you asking both questions?
I just received a refund from a seller for a shipping overage. She sent it via PayPal.
Does that help? I can give more detail if you're interested.

PayPal refund....
Find the transaction in your PayPal account, click on the "refund" button, the default amount will be filled in for the total payment so you need to change that to the amount of the refund you want to make.
Note that there will be no refund of PayPal fees, no refund of eBay fvf fees and probably no adjustment to Sales Tax (if any) so take that into account when determining the amount of the refund.

Yes, both questions.
Is there a way to place all orders into one package for shipping using one tracking number for all orders? And how to make a partial refund without hurting myself? (Are there any defects or other penalties involved with making a partial refund like this?)
Thanks for asking for clarification.
