How to attract customers

How are you trying to attract the cosplay/science fiction / reinactment communities?

Are you aware that the 82nd World Science Fiction Convention will be in China for the first time this year?

Would it be worth your time and money to take a dealer booth at the convention to introduce your wares to an international community with an active interest in swords, cosplay, and fantasy?

https://www.worldcon.org/

From that start, you can build a North American and European customer base.

Note that science fiction and fantasy fans are active collectors and those who can afford to travel to Chengdu and not worried about the economy.

https://www.worldcon.org/

从那开始,您可以建立北美和欧洲的客户群。

请注意,科幻和奇幻爱好者是活跃的收藏家,他们有能力去成都旅游,而且不担心经济。

How to attract customers

As others have pointed out, you're selling from china. So right there, a lot of people are not interested. High quality isn't the first thing that comes to mind when I think shipped directly from china. And coming from china, a lot of people don't want to wait 6 months for their item to arrive. I can only imagine the headache of getting swords cleared through customs. I've had things that aren't dangerous & deadly weapons, take forever to be cleared through customs.

Also you're selling to a niche market, with tons of competition. I did a quick ebay search, and it gave me 650,000+ results for "sword" with the results filtered to be under $100, and US only.

Just in general:  China actually does produce many very high quality items, generally in traditional trades, of which forging is one.

I have owned several knives and swords that were made in China and I can tell you the quality of the steel is substandard. The process may be there but the steel is not.

Also katana swords, for instance, are part of martial arts practice such as Iaijutsu as well as used in general training - training with a katana for instance is popular in general combat fitness - where I live there are numerous studios who offer training using a katana (or other sword practice) - you can get quite fit working out with one!

I love to buy the lovely blades myself but honestly, I would not even think of eBay as the place to get them. Try branching out to other places.

Thank you for kind reply. To be honest,we have differents style swords:chinese style swords ,japanese swords, and differents blade :folded steel ,1095 steel ,t10 steel ,shihozume, kobuse .We have the ability to make swords with ordinary prices or high-quality swords, depending on how you choose. Higher craftsmanship means you have to pay for higher manual costs and more cumbersome production processes. We are committed to enabling every people who loving the sword to purchase a satisfactory sword.Thank you again.🤔🤔🤔

We don't need to wait for six months, we only need one month(Of course, if it's some expensive swords, you need to wait for a month or two because the production process is complicated). And there's no need to worry about customs at all.If it's air freight, it can be received in a week.Different prices correspond to different steels with different qualities.Thank you for your kind reply.😊😊😊

Please understand I mean absolutely no disrespect. Over the years I have bought much of my inventory from Chinese factories and I gave always been satisfied with the quality.

That said - because the political landscape has changed in recent times there are many people who make it a point to avoid anything made in China. Many of the belt buckles I bought from China in the past I am now buying (at a higher price) from U S manufacturers because my customers demand it.

Unfortunately I do not have a solution just an observation. You know your situation better than I so maybe you can develop a work around.

I have a bone-handled scimitar that says "not so much" - the blade quality is outstanding.
