How to attach photo in new eBay messaging format

Ebay has changed the format for messages and I gave my feedback that I do not like it.

I just sent a message to a buyer and needed to attach a photo but could find the attach button. How do I attach a photo to the message? thank you

Hi @jmp1953 . This should help.

Messages are no longer formatted like emails; they are formatted like messages. It operates the same way a chat window does. Ex: when you contact customer service here on eBay using the chat option, and when you send a text message on your phone, you type in the space at the bottom, not higher up where messages are displayed.

At the bottom of the message window, the box that says 'send message' is where you click to start typing. I'm hoping eBay will update that 'send message' text to something more instructive in the near future, like 'compose message', and eliminate some of the confusion stemming from the crowd that is not familiar with text message / chat format.

The photo landscape icon on the left is for attaching photos. The paper airplane icon on the right is for sending the message.

To the left of “Send message” is a pictogram of (perhaps) a sun over mountains in a folder.  Touch that and it opens up options for attaching a photo.

thank you. I finally found that. I don't use a phone for ebay or chat or messaging, etc. because I have visual issues with a phone and its tiny window and keypad. I and many others with visual challenges use only a desktop computer with a large screen.

That only works if you are using a phone. I am using a desktop computer with a large screen and a separate keyboard. I have visual challenges and need to be able to see the entire message. The new message window is too small for me to see the entire message. I did finally find the link for attaching photos.

Hi @jmp1953 - if it helps you can zoom in your view to make everything bigger.

Hit Ctrl and + until it's the size you want.

Keep in mind if you zoom in too much it may cause problems, like buttons disappearing and weird formatting. If that happens, for example there's a pop up window to leave feedback and you can't see the submit button on the bottom corner or something similar, then all you have to do is hit Ctrl and - to zoom out until those buttons appear.

I understand but I don't use a cell phone as I can't see the keypad or text. My cell phone is only if I am away from home and need to make or receive an emergency call. I wish that ebay and others would understand that everyone does not use a cell phone.

The "zoom" instructions I gave you are for a computer with a keyboard, not a cell phone @jmp1953 .

That image that I sent to you was taken from an Apple iPad.  And it is similar to what I encounter on my large screen desktop (Lenovo/Windows 10).   I almost always use my desktop to attach images to messages via that "mountain & sun" link.  I am like you- the phone screen is too small for eBay stuff.

I am suggesting that you may be able to use messaging more efficiently on your desktop than you are aware of.  Perhaps there is a savvy fifteen-year-old kid lying around somewhere nearby that you can rouse to help you in making use of it.

Just to say it out loud, you have to relearn something you already knew how to do. 

What are 5 benefits to using this method over the longstanding format?

thank you for the info. I know how to use the messaging feature and I learned it on my own. I am very proficient with a computer--been using one for 40+ years. Much prefer using a desktop instead of a cell phone. Telling me to have a 15 year old to help me was not very respectful.
