How to Deal with Non Paying Bidder?

OK, I have been on eBay for quite some time. I have a nonpaying bidder with quite good feedback. He said he could pay the following Saturday after the end of the auction. I said no worries. Now I am on Monday and no answers to my messages and no payment.

Give him more time or relist it or offer it to the bidder who missed it by a whole dollar. Any input ?

Thank you. I do the buy it now once and awhile. But I would much rather have a real auction. It has happened a few times!

Why not simply cancel, citing "buyer did not pay" as the reason?

ALL buyers have "quite good feedback" because they cannot receive any other kind.

You can give him more time if you want. It's entirely up to you. I give buyers two weeks to pay.

If you relist the item, you need to make sure you complete the unpaid item process and cancel the transaction first.

Auctions honestly seem like such a thing of the past. Is there really any benefit to using them?

. He said he could pay the following Saturday after the end of the auction.

Translation?

"My bank will not trust me with a credit card because I am useless with money and have a terrible credit rating."

Open the Unpaid Item Dispute and get out of the transaction as soon as possible.

Block him.

And relist.

You can Message the underbidder but until the original transaction is ended, you would be risking having two payments for one item.

In this century, there is no reason why any online buyer can't pay immediately if he has a credit card.

And if he can't qualify for one? That's his problem not yours.

i have sold about 100,000 lots on ebay over the last 22 years, and 99+ per cent were autions.  The easy way to fix this is let the sellers block bidders with  feedback below what ever they want. If the person wants to bid on  the item, buy  the buy it now with payment now. with in  a few days they would be able to bid then pay for the item. so no problem for the buyer.  this is the best fix for the fun bidders and those who joined ebay and bid on a few items just for fun.  unpaid items were not a major problem until may of this year. ebay sticks with out of day policy relating bidders, but makes changes all of the time inregard to sellers.  the item specifics dont work is some cases because the form does not work because of very poor forms.  the biggest problem is that i do not think ebay vets the new bidders(not buyers)  When i invoice many of the 0 feedback bidders, the name one the account  many times does not even seem to be a real Name. Even most of the mailing address does not show up on maps or searchers.  a corn field, junkyard, empty lot, etc.

At a time when eBay should be encouraging new buyers, as well as repeat buyers, you make a suggestion that would, in effect, cut down on the number of buyers?

If nonpaying bidders have become a problem for any seller, that seller needs to abandon auctions entirely and go to BIN.  Nowadays, only rarities are really suitable for auctions.

Finally, eBay offers a solution for sellers when a buyer doesn't pay.  It's called cancelling and using "didn't pay" as the reason.

Canceled the auction Choose nonpaying bidder as reason. Then offered it to the other lower bidder. If He or She buys it I will be in shock! Best

Oh heck yes - but only for the right products such as rare antiques - vintage pieces - collectibles - one of a kind. If its a mainstream product with a known average retail price then No. People listing laptops and game consoles and smartphones for auction are just inviting scammers and non-payers.

Honestly from my standpoint I can tell you that auctions are NOT a thing of the past. There is a definitely a benefit to using them. Just do a little research and pick and choose wisely for the auctions style items.
