How should I handle this scammer

So, I sold a lot of 135 Littlest Pet Shop figurines to a person and today they opened a return request saying half of them are fake and to give them 50% of their money back. I know for a fact that all of them are authentic, and I suspect they also know that, but who knows, they may just be insanely confused.

So I accepted the return request and paid for a shipping label for them, then sent them a message apologizing for their unhappiness with the lot, and explaining that I'm entirely sure the toys are actually authentic. I told them I couldn't give a partial refund, but I provided them with a shipping label they could use if they want to return it.

So next they went a bit further, saying they were getting an "agent" involved, that I *would* issue a partial refund, if I didn't own up to my "lies" their agent would step in. Said that she talked to someone on eBay and they told her that they'd force a partial refund in 7 days if I do nothing. Said that if she doesnt get her refund she'd open a dispute with her bank and "she never loses a dispute". Said she does this for a living (scam people? lol)

I called eBay in hopes that they might just close the case early for me, but had no luck and got the standard "the automated systems should theoretically handle this" response, so in a couple weeks I should just be able to close the case unless they actually return it (I sure hope they don't, for obvious reasons).

I reported them, and I suppose will just wait. Do you guys have any other ideas or tips for anything else I should do? Does anyone know what will happen if they do open a dispute with their bank? I'm in managed payments, if that matters.

So, it sounds like they're trying to bluff you out of a refund. You already agreed to refunding them and even paid shipping. At this point they are just acting crazy....I don't know.

At this point, you already gave them a shipping label. All you need to worry about is that they return the items sold to you. And they get their refund. So everyone should be happy. If they do try to open a dispute with their bank just show them the statement that shows the seller was refunded and proof on ebay as well.

Now as far as the refund goes, inspect the item before giving a refund. If the item was sold new and it was opened when inspected, or there was a completely different item shipped (it sometimes happens) let ebay know immediately and do not refund the buyer if that is the case.

The buyer cannot force a 50% refund. Ebay will not force it either. Your buyer is telling an outright untruth about that.

You absolutely did the right thing here. No need to get into a back-and-forth with the buyer. Just keeep repeating, “please return the items for a full refund.”

I can agree. At this point if the seller wants to argue you just reply back "Return for Refund." and eventually they will have to, or they might face the wrath of ebay

You did everything right.

"Please return for a full refund" is all you need to say.

Once you approved the refund, they have X amount of days to return the items or you win the claim. No refund.

They can contact as many "agents" as they want. Be helpful and give the the number to the FBI.

Good luck and stay safe.
