How old is everyone?

I wonder what the average age of the ebay seller is. I'm the big 4-0.

So the answer is, from this "sample" of self selected posts...

Ages range from <35 to 80!  Person who said they were under 35 didn't give exact age.  5 posters said they were in there 30's, 3 of them 38.

Of the 39 that gave exact ages or were calculable, we get these numbers....

Average = 59.6

Median = 58

Std Dev = 11.54

19 others left clues as to age being "old" suggesting close to the average. 1 suggested they were younger than the youngest.

I’m 34, started two years ago.  This is a good way to be able to stay home with my daughter while earning some extra money.  I love these boards for trading but hardly ever post.  These boards are the Best way to get information and make sure what I’m doing is correct.

I am 55 and registered with ebay in 1998. For the first 10 yrs. I was a very active seller and buyer but not so much since then as I do mental health counseling full time and I have been sorely disappointed with the direction ebay has been going these last 10 yrs. I keep lurking in the hope that they will change direction and support sellers. Alas, I do not see this and don't think things will change for the better.

Yea, I noticed the same thing. I've been selling for decades, but only joined the board in '11, in my early 30's.

I actually expected to see more of a balanced number, seeing more 30 year olds than what... 3 people? I would think for the value a seller gets from this board... they'd be here too. Maybe my title doesn't attract the young'ins... I should change it to "How old/young is everyone? Taylor Swift and Justin Beiber rules!!"

I wonder what would be the average number if asked in the buyers board.

So this is funny! One of my friends that I taught how to sell on ebay texts me : "Do you ever follow board conversations? There's a conversation about how old sellers are. Everyone is sooo old! I didn't dare answer 29!"

Both my grandsons are ebay sellers - they are 25 and 27 - have been selling since they were teeenagers.  However, you would never find them on any of the chatboards - hey don't have the time.
