I guess they'll be making it all, then. Sorry...

They are "making" ZERO Dollars, the funds are not kept in an interest bearing account.
Don't worry, eventually ( I don't know the timeframe) "unclaimed" funds will be sent to your State treasury (just like an abandoned bank account) and you can apply to them to get your funds. Keep in mind, they will want your SSN before they release the funds to you.
If you really don't want to provide a SIN you can apply to the IRS for an ITIN or EIN and use that instead.

Each day someone else has money that you don't, they are earning interest on it that you aren't.
And, if they are a bank, they can lend many multiples of that money and earn even more interest.
If it makes you feel better, interest rates are near zero, so neither you nor your bank (nor anyone else) is going to earn much interest on your cash.

In our fractional banking world the banks can lend out multiples of the amount one deposits and still make real money as part of those loans go to credit card loans which still charge usurious rates of interest. But I have met bank branch managers who do not understand how fractional banking works.
