How does Ebay organize listings?

First off, I do not have a store.

And I am completely perplexed by how my listings are showing up in the seller hub. There seems to be no rhyme or reason -- not by most recent, not by price, not alphabetically...

Also -- is there anyway for me to organize my listings (mostly for myself) without having a store? Thanks in advance.

You can organize how you see and in what order your active listings appear in seller hub.  If you use the app, and input your seller name in the search, your items are appearing in best match format.

I don't have a store. You can customize your listings any way you want. See the screen shot below. Click customize table circled in red below to add or take away columns and put them in any order you want.

To sort the way you want, click on whatever column you want to sort by, I have circled the columns in blue. I almost always sort by the "end date" column. Click the "end date" column, and it starts with newly listed items, click the "end date" column again and it starts with items ending soonest.

you can sort by almost any  of the column headers.....i.e. titles can be by alpha.   There are also up/down arrows in the headers that will reverse the function......i.e.  most to least........least to most.

Thanks for all the answers but this is not what I'm wanting to do. Using the headers doesn't organize the listings, it just allows you to choose what is shown. The up and down arrows keep the same order but just in reverse. I'm guessing to really organize -- move listings around, group listings together, I need a store. I have quite an eclectic mix so it would be nice for me to see all the books together, all the home decor together, etc. I have not found using the column headers to assist in that in any way and I've tried selecting an item and trying to move the row up and down and that's not possible. Thanks again though. I do appreciate the feedback.

Opening a store will result in the same thing you're seeing now @gvand_2009 .

You cannot sort by category, but you can filter by category. Expand the search section at the top and filter by category, then you can see everything in the book category at once or the home decor category.

The only way I can think of to actually sort by category (or whatever customization you want) is to utilize the Custom SKU field on your listings. Fill out custom SKU on all your listings, add that column to your seller hub view with the customize link, then click on that header to sort alphabetically.

So any book you can use a custom SKU that begins with the word Book. Then on the active listings page, when you sort by custom SKU, everything that starts with Book will be grouped together.

They have different presets you can use. But not enough. And you can't order them however you feel. You have to use one of the presets.
