How do i issue a partial refund on paypal

So a buyer had demanded i cancel an order after i shipped the item and is asking for his money back. I managed to get the item back from fedex but they wont issue the refund because its not fedex fault.

I just want to refund my original item cost and not the cost of shipping and ebay said i need to do it in paypal. Im confused. Can anyone help.

Last time i had a similair incident i use paypal to issue a partail refund ans paypal automatically issued the entire refund.

Open your paypal account and find the transaction. Click on the refund tab and make SURE to change the amount, as the default amount is the full payment and if that is sent, there is no way to recover it.

You are responsible to return what he paid and that would include shipping?

You had the item recalled so you had to pay for that service.  But there was no reshipping fee back to you.

Try to work his conscience. Ask him to share the shipping cost because he was the one who changed his mind. Explain that you had to pay to have your item recalled also, another additional charge. Ask if he wouldn't mind sharing the cost since he changed his mind after you had shipped.

If he files a claim he will get it all back anyway. It's a long shot, but he might understand giving that he caused the entire mess.
