It sounds like you are not waiting in line to get your acceptance scan. That is important to do. Defects fall off after one year, i believe. They cannot get removed easily. Below is the policy covering this subject. Other posters will be along with more information. Good luck.

EBay will remove them. Uploaded on time but no carrier scan comes off after 3 months. That metric only counts for top rated sellers. Otherwise, those numbers don’t matter.
Late delivery dings stay for a year for lower volume sellers.
ok perhaps my own fault for not knowing there was a place to see my "defects" (well not really mine but USPS but thats not what this is about)...so by the time i found them it was too late to have them removed but now we are coming up on a year..will they fall off? had one that is from 8-5-21 still on acct so wrote an email..got a nice response explaining how they need to be addressed within 90 days to be eligible for removal (if at all) with no acknowledgement of the 1 year date having passed..will it fall off at the end of the month?? disgusted but hanging in there
I am disgusted about defects also. I was very ill and needed some surgeries a while back. Instead of closing my account I cancelled all my listings. BIG MISTAKE. They were counted as "Defects". Now I can't do "Promotional Listings" which are very necessary for me because of the heavy competition. This morning, I was told that I could only list 15 items. Requested removal but was denied twice. I have been a member since 2003 and very loyal to eBay. They have not been loyal to me!
