How do I change the shipping method after a purchase is made ?

Hi guys ,

I just accepted an offer and I am still waiting for the buyers payment. While I was reviewing the listing , I noticed that the shipping method was for Priority Mail FLAT RATE SMALL BOX. The items that I am shipping do not fit into that size box. I know with Priority Shipping you pay for a shipping label that is very specific to the type of box . My question is , can I or how can I change the shipping method while I am waiting for the buyer payment ?

You can't change it after the purchase is made.  You will need to ship Priority and cover the cost if the buyer wasn't charged enough.

Click the link to print shipping label (I know buyer has not paid) but you can change payment methods and see what the cost will be.  You will NOT actually print the label but you have the buyer info so you can see what shipping method works best and the actual cost.

The bad news is, you can't change the shipping method and reinvoice the buyer.  If you print through ebay/paypal, you might possibly be able to change things when you click on ship your item , before purchasing postage, you should see the specifics of the size and weight, there is an option to change the box dimensions, weight, and shipping methods. Hopefully you do not end up eating a cost difference. 

Depending on the size and weight of the item, if you ship Priority the handling is the same for calculated or flat rate.  If you can keep the weight from changing by using a larger Priority or Flat rate box unless it goes over 12" on one dimension, you should be able to ship for the same price.

You can change the shipping parameters when you print out the shipping label.  I doubt whether a buyer cares about shipping Priority with a flat rate box or by weight.  If you listed as shipping Priority then that is what you should do and just eat any excess costs from the item not fitting into a flat rate box as a learning experience, a lesson I still have to relearn once in awhile despite shipping here for nearly 20 years.

Also, if the increase in rate is really high you can always ask the buyer for a favor. The real world is not like the limited subset of pain in the derrière  buyers we read about here as most buyers are pretty friendly and don't care about these matters.
