Hi, How do I add ShipCover Insurance to my listings? I read that it is $1.65 for a $100.00 worth of Insurance. I think maybe worth it, with everything going on with USPS. I believe this is for the Post office losing a package and also for a damaged package. If anyone knows more on the subject, please let me know. Thanks

The actual insurance is something that you add after the item is sold. I do not happen to use Ebays shipping program so I am only guessing at this. When you fill in all of the information for your shipping label there should be an option when you choose whether or not to purchase insurance and the last time I used Ebay shipping labels it was an option of which insurance company you used to insure your item.

When I've used ShipCover I've done so through the shipping page.

Just make sure that you read through all the legalese as many items that USPS will insure are not covered under ShipCover. I am not saying this as a knock on using them, just making sure that you are aware of what coverage you are actually getting for your money. Cheaper insurance can come back to be much more expensive if your item arrives damaged and then is excluded from coverage by the insurance company.

I went to one of my lists to revise it and I don't see a place for the shipcover. How do I add this insurance in the price, I guess of the shipping? Thanks

Your most expensive Items currently listed are 1 @ $30 and 1 @ $16, all the rest are below $10.
At $1.65 to insure each package you would have to be losing 1 out of every 6 packages just to break even. Insurance for such low value items is basically throwing money away. On a $10 shipment you would be paying a premium of 16.5%, more than eBay and PayPal fees combined!
Also keep in mind that if a buyer files a claim because your package late and then it later gets delivered insurance will not pay off.
On domestic USPS shipments over the past 40+ years I've been doing mail order I have only lost 2 packages out of about 100,000!

I've used ShipCover here and there for expensive items. Other than that it's pretty much a waste of money.
Don't look at is as $1.65 to cover a $30 loss. Look at it as ALL the $1.65 fees to cover a $30 loss. They add up quickly.

As others have noted, insurance is not a good investment for most items. And don't forget that USPS includes $50 of insurance at no extra cost when you ship via Priority Mail.
If you want to charge buyers for insurance in your listing, you can (1) add it to your asking price; (2) add it into a flat price that you're charging for shipping; or (3) set up calculated shipping, using the Advanced (not Quick) version of the listing form and enter it as a handling fee.
