I was thinking of trying out a store, and was comparing the FVFs on the different tiers. At first I thought the Basic store offered a FVF of 4.915%. "Wow, that's really good!" I thought. Then I looked reread and saw it was a range FROM 4% to 9.15%.
9.15% hardly seems like a discount worth getting excited about. (Couldn't even drop it a full percent, eBay? REALLY?) Whereas 4% would be a big deal. What determines the FVF? Is it based on the category an item is in? Or how much a seller sells? Or?
I mostly sell vintage toys, in Toys & Hobbies, if that makes a difference.

Yes, it's based on category. This basic fees page has a list of categories with the FVF rate for each one. Alas, 9.15% is the most prevalent rate. It used to be 9% but then eBay decided they wanted a little more.

Thanks, that's very helpful. I looked up the fees for my typical category and it's 9.15%. Wow. eBay is cheap, lol.
