How can I send my buyer a return shipping label?

So I had a buyer request a return, and I accepted the return via eBay and paid for the return shipping label on the spot. I was under the impression eBay would email them the return shipping label after doing so, but they messaged me asking where the prepaid label is.

I've been looking everywhere and haven't been able to find somewhere to print this or link the label to the buyer. Any suggestions? I know the payment for the return label went through because it's in my Paypal, but I can't find the label anywhere..

Hi @tokyonimbus, I want to start out by clarifying that when you have eBay issue a return label, you won't be billed until that label is scanned by the carrier. You shouldn't be seeing a charge at PayPal now, as the missing label has not yet been printed.

However, this is a scam. Now that you have accepted the return and issued a label, your buyer will escalate to eBay that there is an error and there is no label. eBay will award you a defect, and either force a label, or hold 5 days then force a refund, no return required.

To avoid that unfortunate outcome, you should upload your own label like this.

A seller never has access to the return label that you had eBay issue to your buyer. Only the buyer can see the return label, which is created on-the-fly when the buyer clicks the "Print return label" button; it's at that point that eBay gets a copy of the tracking number. Even then, the buyer has the option to click "Mark has died" to upload the tracking number on their own label instead.

Oftentimes it doesn't work, or the buyer pretends it doesn't work, which puts the onus back on the seller to provide an alternate label, trick the buyer to pay for their own label, or just refund without return.

unbelievable.  same problem here...something SO EASY shouldn't be THIS HARD.

I also accepted a return and I believe I paid for a label, but of course this isn't reflected anywhere in my account (i.e., under What's happened so far? details).

I guess we are just supposed to cross our fingers and hope that the buyer got the label?

Ebay is just so pathetic.

When Ebay issues a return shipping label, they will send buyer an email contaning a link to download the label.

They can also access the label by going through the return details.

Have a great day.
