I have been reading incessantly on if its possible to include a link or reference to a photo hosting site in an ebay listing.
I read that ebay does not like links that take you outside of ebay.
Is there a work around.

you can use a photo hosting site IF the site is secure (has https in front of the URL).........you have to host the gallery (1st of 12) image on ebay, but then the other 11 can come from the site. People have had trouble with the sites....against their rules to use on ebay, and/or they go down and so no pictures are seen....etc.
You may be thinking that you can upload alot of pictures into the description area......and I think you still can....using html...... but alot of those may slow down mobile pages......
One legal (as those above are) is to make a "video" of the pictures and post it on Utube, and you can put that link into the description. I have no idea how it's done, but I'm sure someone on the net has posted instructions......

No, there is no workaround. Even if there were, it would be a violation of the community's Rules of Engagement to give you advice on how to circumvent eBay policies.
"15. Do not encourage others to breach eBay policies or the eBay User Agreement. It is against the spirit of the Community to suggest to other members that they do something that may be in breach of eBay policies."
No one needs to see your 100+ photos of the car being restored. If the buyer is interested, send them a file after the transaction has been completed.
