How can I get send a message to a bidder?

I just sold an item for which there were a couple of bids.  I have an additional (same item) that I'm going to list now and I want to send the bidder who didnt win a message to let them know I'm going to list it.  I have his username, but don't know how to send him a message.  Thanks

Go to your Sold listing.  Is there an option to send a Second Chance Offer to an underbidder?

As above, you can probably send your second-place guy a Second Chance Offer (SCO), if you would be willing to sell your second example of that item for whatever his highest bid was in the first auction.

Just go to the Bid History page for your first auction by clicking on the number of bids showing in the original listing. If your second place guy has his bidding preferences set up to receive SCOs, you will see a link for that next to his most recent bid. Click that and follow the instructions on the following pages.

That will set up a BuyItNow listing for that item that is visible only to him, for the price of his highest bid (and it's not negotiable). I would select a response time of 24 hours to give him time to receive the notification and consider it. You will know if he's looked at it by seeing whether the View Count for the SCO listing goes up.

As an alternative to the above suggestions, you can find that member's profile page or feedback page and send him/her an eBay message through the contact link on either one of those pages.

It would be better to send him a Second Chance Offer, because (1) there's an easy way to do it; (2) it will automatically be set at the highest price that he bid; and (3) sending unsolicited ads is technically spam according to eBay so you'd get in trouble if he complained.  If he hasn't already purchased this item from somebody else then he's probably still looking and will find your new listing.

Re: How can I get send a message to a bidder?

Thanks to all.  I saw the "2nd chance offer" choice, but the description made it sound like that was if the original buyer backed out.   It said something like, "try to work things out with the original winner first".  I'll give it a try!

eBay's member-to-member contact policy:

"We don't allow our members to send each other spam. "Spam" is an email (or part of an email) that is both unsolicited and commercial in nature."

I would suggest that an unsolicited message to a bidder about a different listing would meet the definition of "unsolicited and commercial in nature".
