It is literally like the movie Idiocracy. It was a huge lot of of unbranded electrical connectors. There are hundreds of listings for old connectors just like them. The listing had already ended, unsold, they did it a few days after the fact. I don't want to relist it, I already dumped it off at the swap meet. I just want to avoid doing whatever it was I did again. I called, and did the ring around the rosie with someone I can barely understand for 10 minutes. They gave me an email address, but the rights holder is under no obligation to get back to me. Do the cops pull you over and give you a ticket, and send you to court where they ask you to figure out what you did wrong? Here is the title
HUGE Lot 7500+ Terminal Crimp Wire Nut Connectors Spade Eye Lug 37 Pounds
Looking it over, "Wire Nut" is a brand of connector. That is my best guess, but I don't know. The pictures were of a big lot of connectors from a far, not close ups, and they were unbranded anyways. What if I have a actual branded box of Wire Nuts? Can I sell those? Seriously, to fix anything, you need to know the problem. How hard is that?

Their VeRO enforcement has been really poor lately and it seems they're changing policies.
~6 months ago we were able to appeal the VeRO claims and have them removed if our listings were compliant. Now (in Motors) they're saying policies are different and "for" or "fits" must be immediately preceding the vehicle name or else they can't remove them?
This is a different policy than they have used for years, and we even have emails from last year of them saying "For 2000-2010 Toyota Celica" would be completely acceptable. Now, it must be "2000-2010 for Toyota Celica"????
If you check the Motors category, > 99% of listings are in the "For 2000-2010 Toyota" format. Which means basically every listing is against policy according to the "new policy"???
And there's not even a written policy for VeRO in the Motors category anymore?!?!
It's ridiculous.
Since our last claims of VeRO regarding this, we seen a substantial drop in traffic/sales to the point that we had our slowest week in over 3 years (and we're a top seller in our category).
We were told that since our listings were updated within the "2 days fair warning" time frame, it does "not count as a VeRO violation" and should not have a penalty. But on our business readout from MSO Sellers Health, it lists "VeRO" in the policy violation section???
We had a Motors Category Manager tell us he believes it's VeRO causing our drop. Now the VeRO team is saying there shouldn't be a penalty bc it never progressed to a "VeRO Violation".
Meanwhile, there's no tech team that can confirm if we're receiving a VeRO penalty or not. I highly suspect that even though we did our part in "fair warning" and it "should not" be giving us a penalty, it seems that we still are. This drop is unprecedented, even during the last year and a half on eBay which was filled with tech issues and random drops.
It's ridiculous. And of course, nowhere to go for help, and nobody at eBay even can confirm what the problem is.

I recently opened a topic of this **bleep**. There you had an opportunity of joining others like me complaining about the Vero program nailing you, only you, and then leaving the rest of sellers alone.

And how am I to know that is the problem, if they wont tell me? How am I to know that listing something else similar without that term won't get me a permanent suspension?

Sounds to me as if you know what the problem is. With or without the hyphen, using the name Wire Nut for products that aren't Wire-Nut® is going to cause you problems.
Did the email address belong to the company that owns the trademark Wire-Nut® ?
If you received a notice of Vero violation, the Vero owner should have been identified in that message.
If you have a box of Wire Nut brand connectors, yes you can list them as Wire Nut

This is true actually, they should say which manufacturer put in the claim for trademark infringement.
This case also seems to be a gray area a bit, as Wire-Nut seems to be a brand, but also the generic name of the product as well.
To avoid this, could do something like "Wire Connection Cap".
If it is the brand, then you can send an email to the one found on the infringement notice.

I am totally ignorant about this kind of stuff, but wanted to ask if there is any possibility that the word "Spade" is the problem, as in "Kate Spade"?

It's like velcro and onesie. Both tradmarked names but used generically. Using them on eBay without them actually being Velcro and by Gerber respectively, will result in the listing likely being pulled.
In the UK they have the same issue with hoover which is a generic word for vacuum cleaner but is actually a brand.
There'a a passel of such words that trip sellers up.

Unlikely. Especially in a non fashion category.
