selling on my other id for 10 years. Have some items that were listed in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016. Even if they have watchers, & have sold along the way, should I just end and relist if they have watchers to freshen them up for search? I sell many multi-variations of new items. If I relist then ebay will send the watchers a notice that the item has been relisted, and most likely give me a better placement for a couple days.

ebay will only send a watched item relist notification if the watcher has that communication option selected.
If you have watchers, might suggest relisting, but INCREASE the price a bit to lure out "watchers", and convert them to buyers. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it leads to interesting emails.

I'll keep relisting items until they sell, but if I've been listing something for more than several months and it hasn't sold yet, I'll often give it a rest for a couple of weeks before I relist it again. Sometimes that's all it takes to get something to sell.

If I still have available quanity, I will keep on relisting them until all sold.
But some listings, if I have new shipments came, I will update the quanity. And if it expires, relist again. And repeat in a endless cycle.

Some items I relist 2-3 weeks later - some 2-3 months later - some only at certain times of the year. It depends on the level of interst they generate, or if I receive a free listing promo. Of my monthly store listings I try to keep relisted items at less than 70% of my listings. However, I rarely have multiple quantities or variations of any item.

I have a large quantity of non-sellers, I relist anytime eBay gives me a promo (not so reliable anymore) or I list them when I have any unused Store listings that will vanish if I don't use them.
If neither of those things happen I generally select maybe 50 and list them for 30 days and then pick a different 50 the next month.
I sell a combination of repeatables and singles and have slow/no sellers of both types. I tend to list the things I have multiples of more frequently but I don't really have a set plan since as we know items you have the least expectations of can be the ones that actually sell.

@ohsogifty4 Relisting frequency I think depends on what one sells. I deal in mainly collectibles. When I buy things to sell I try to get lots where I can create multiple listings. Toys, games, models, trains, silverplate flatware, ceramics, cast iron, seasonal like Christmas things, etc. I work to try and get each "lot" profitable first, then I have flexibility on the remaining lot items - hold price, increase or decrease since it is all profit at that point. I also have the option to close out a lot and put items altogether and sell it off or if some items that have been around for a long time I will take them to a thrift shop and make a donation for a tax deduction.
I like to see a good sell through rate but that is subjective when selling things other than consumables ... some things sell quickly and others hang around for 9 months or longer ... those are the items that wind up in the donation heap.

Op, Ironically I have stuff sell this year that was listed in 2013 and 2014. I was ready to give it away. I can't see what you sell, but if it's worth it -- has a fair price to it -- keep listing. Also, try another site. I can't name the sites or I'll be banned.
Also sell at flea markets. If you have a neighbor that sells at flea markets, ask if they will sell your stuff and split the cost.
I took a break from listing on Ebay. I'm out for the summer. I'll relist in the fall -- or maybe never again. I delisted at Half.com and haven't looked back.

I have things that fly off the "shelf" the same day they're listed, I know what's hot in my categories, and then things that sit that are "long tail" and some that I can't figure out why they're not moving, but obviously buyers are picking off ebay the cream of the crop. With the selection of stuff on ebay that's not hard to do...
I had an interesting February. I was bored of the whole thing, and didn't list a single new thing, just hit relist one day on 75 items or so after they fell off weeks earlier and I had only a few items active.
Strangest thing happened, I ended up selling a bunch of stuff that had been listed here for a year or almost two.
So go figure, no rhyme, no reason.

I have some things that I have listed off and on using specials for 5 years or more. And I keep relisting because they sometimes sell. Had a Cubs tshirt that I have relisted forever, sell last year for some reason. Sometimes you just have to wait until the time is right and the trend has changed.

Relisting frequency I think depends on what one sells.

I agree with this up to a point. But a year, two five years later I do not care what it is, something needs to be updated in that listing or finally taken down.
Contrary to popular belief, there is not a buyer out there for every item on ebay. Some are just not sellable.

I'd say it really depends on the item. Collectibles? There most likely is a buyer out there who wants that particular thing. An old, ratty t-shirt that's more fit for use as rags than a t-shirt? Toss it.

Not every collectible is wanted or desired. Everyone of my generation has them, and we cannot even give them away to our own kids.

I went through all my items (281) and anything that was listed in 2016 & before, I ended and relisted 2 days back. Between yesterday and today, I have had 6 sales of items I had not had sales for in the last few months.
So I now believe that ending and relisting items every 30 days may be the way to get higher in search and more visibility. Keep it fresh!
I had read a while back a tip for selling on Ebay. One tip was to end & relist items every 30 days if you have no sales of that item.
