How NOT to ship an item. Sad but true experience recently.

I have been with eBay since they started. Over that period of time, I have sold and bought thousands of items. It continues to amaze me how some sellers send out their goods to a customer.  I used to think throwing in all the packaging excess was bad until recently.

I received an item I order in a large envelope last week. Inside that envelope, there was another large envelope that had obviously been used and mailed before. That large envelope had markings all over it RETURN TO SENDER, REFUSED & UNABLE TO FORWARD. Oh, I left off one other marking it had on it - DECEASED.  And yes, it contained the name and address of the deceased and a return address label.

Seriously. I could not believe anyone in their right mind would forward on merchandise to a buyer like that just to save on an envelope.  Price of the item I bought?  $175.  Funny? Not in my opinion.  Sad more like it.  Just thought I would share this failure to ship properly experience.

Not  surprising, we live in a different time, lower standards appear now  more tolerated & more acceptable.

Wanting to create a good impression appears not as widely held as in the past.

Double the price you paid and relist it yourself as creepy, haunted and cursed. Blot out all identifying information on the inner envelope and include it as provenance.

Although this <item> looks and functions just fine, things just haven't been the same around here since it arrived....

I purchased a doll lot from a seller once. When the package arrived, it looked like the seller just took their kid's toy box and dumped everything in a box and shipped it all. There was so much junk in the box that I received, stuff that wasn't in the listing. Used kids makeup, hair, broken toys. It took me hours to go through the box just to get the items that I had actually purchased!

Another time, I purchased a doll clothing lot. When I received the package, all of the clothes were full of hair. Human hair. There was so much hair wrapped up in the doll clothes, it was disgusting. I couldn't even use the items, it was that bad, everything was covered in hair.
Some folks have no shame.

I had a large lot of booklets sent to me in a pizza box. Not a new or clean pizza box, (which is absolutely not a problem because the size was perfect) but one with grease, cheese and sauce stains inside. The booklets weren't even bagged, they were just laying in the food residue.

I was not impressed. unamused

Oh, and a box of books with mouse poop in the box. Smiley Mad

Several years back on the FEEDBACK BOARD, a buyer posted to ask what feedback to leave a seller.

The buyer had purchased an automated litter box, used but in its original box.  When it arrived, it was rattling around somewhat and the buyer opened it expecting to be disappointed that it was broken in transit. It might have been fully operational but the buyer didn't try to find out.  The seller had packed it up and sent it without emptying it after its last use by the cat(s).  It was full of litter and cat droppings.

The majority of posters recommended a neg.  A few soft-hearted folks suggested that the seller might have been 'unaware' of the contents, a notion that was generally pooh-poohed by the others.

I remember reading about a lady who bought some jewelry, and it arrived wrapped in animal hair because the seller wanted to "go green".

The worst thing Ive been sent was a set of glasses with clean maxipads used as padding. I wasn't amused in the least, especially since 3 were broken. I guess I could have used the pads to absorb where I cut my hand on the glass...

I once received a green Singer 185K sewing machine shipped with nothing but  a wadded up piece of paper inside a thin cardboard box to cushion it and its case.  This was BAD because the carrying case and base were plastic and integral parts of the machine.   Couldn't really be used without these.  The machine worked just fine...the case however was smashed and unusable.  Wound up having buy a small cabinet for it.

Another item was a large doll with a clean toddler pull up on its head.  I couldn't complain, it kept the noggin intact and it was clean.  My mother thought it was hilarious.  It was for her anyway; she always wanted that Alexander doll as a kid.  I did smile a bit at that.

Now I know what to do with left over doggie diapers!

The hair person must be related because every time I pack something my hair gets under the tape. I have a hair fall going on for some reason and it gets crazy. Hair hanging from cupboards, on the car mirror as I go down the road, hair hanging from my dogs mouth, not to mention the Forest it my brush. I know my DNA has been sent around the globe but no one has complained yet.

I would give them an A+ in gorse and disgusting (creative reuse of their trash) and total disrespect of the dead to save a buck.

Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into new materials and objects.

Reuse is the action or practice of using something again, whether for its original purpose (conventional reuse) or to fulfil a different function (creative reuse or repurposing). It should be distinguished from recycling,
