In January of 2020 a buyer purchased a replacement laptop display from me. A couple weeks after receiving, one day I get a package in the mail. It is from this buyer. The item inside is the display I shipped him. When I pulled it out I noticed it was broken around the edges where he opened it and took out the LCD inside. Now I never received any messages or he never filed for a return. I immediately called Ebay and explaind what happened. They said there was not much to do since the buyer has not opened a return. But they sent me an affidavit to fill out and asked me to send them pictures. In case he does file for a return. they will have evidence that he stole the LCD from inside. We nothing happened. Then a couple more weeks I receive a message from Ebay that the buyer filed a charge back claim with his Bank. He said that the item was defective and the seller (me) sent him a label to return the item. Si he returned it and never recived his refund. Again I called ebay and they confirmed that no label was ever sent to him and he never filed for a return. They also said that it is now in the Banks hands and they will sumbit eveidence and wait for the bank outcome. So far it is now a year later and if I look at the claim, it still sais Ebay preparing evidence. Every few months I call ebay and ask why they are not closing this. The rep always said "wow I have never seen it take this long" and them they tell me that they can do nothing that they have top wait for the Bank. Lat time I asked if the Bank could pop up one day in another year and rule against me and take the money from me.
They said sure that could happen. And nowing ebay. It probably will. So I am hoping in the end, Ebay at least gives me a Trophy for the longest running open Dispute. I imagine the trophy will have the Ebay CEO giving me the finger.

So your money has been on hold for two years? It seems even eBay would be hard pressed to give the time worn excuse of "sorry nothing we can do, it is the credit card company" with a straight face.

Ebay did tell me that my money is not on Hold. But if the Bank rules against me, they will deduct it from my managed payments.

I am so honored for this award. I would like to thank Ebay for making me stronger, by never standing up for me as a seller. I would also like to thank the percentage of loser buyers that make us all say "Buyers are Liars".
I never thought it would be possible for my honest and quality service ebay store to achieve such an award. But it just goes to show you that no good deed goes unpnished by Ebay.

you are a very patient person! I would have been all over Ebay. What I have learned is lots of pictures lots of communication will make it go in your favor most of the time. you shall get your trophy!

My personal opinion on what will happen.
Likely since its taking so long it will be closes in your favour.
Even if its not closed in your favour eBay will cover it.
If not contact eBay on facebook.
Other than that just forget about this and if it gets closed someday bot in your favour - deal with it then.

5 years is the max amount of time for a chargeback with certain codes so possibly funds will be held until 2025.

Quick update. I think I am winning the Guinness World Records for the longest dispute. Dispute now open since Feb 26 2020. I would like to thank the Ebay customer service who have made my dream a reality. I could not have reached so high without you.

You already done what you could so I would not worry about. Maybe the bank has denied the chargeback and only notified the buyer. I would not bring attention to myself by asking anymore about it.
If one day the chargeback is approved then I would worry about it.
