Top Rated Seller here. Just got notice that I have a "very high not as described" count and that I'll be hit with extra fees. Went into the count with a text support person. SURPRISE - feebay counts damaged in mail as not as described. So, as seller, you have to refund someone for purchase AND shipping costs and THEN feebay hits you with 5% higher fees.
All this while continuing to give the (now) tiny Top Rated discount.
Does this make sense to ANYONE OUT THERE? What a scam. I pulled all my listings down except a few that I don't care about and put them back up on another account.

Why does eBay sell shipping with insurance for loss or damaged and then hold it against you? I would appeal this one.
That is a really good question. I had not thought of it that way.
Looking at how the options for filing a dispute presents has changed since the last time I saw it. That is interesting too.
It use to read that the top reasons were Buyer Remorse Reasons and then the rest were INAD reasons. It appears mixed a little bit now, or they changed what is a BR reason and what is an INAD reason. I don't know which it is.
Which of these reasons are Buyer Remorse and which are INAD's?
Ordered by mistake [Buyer Remorse?]
Arrived damaged
Don’t like it [Buyer Remorse?]
Missing parts or pieces
Changed my mind [Buyer Remorse?]
Item is defective
Received wrong item
Doesn't fit [Buyer Remorse?]
Found a better price [Buyer Remorse?]
Doesn't match description or photos

Since a buyer continues to get advertisements with similar like items after a purchase I wonder if anyone ever checks Found a better price?

Anyone with 20 years on ebay can't possibly pack items inadequately.

There use to be floating around a timeline of mastery. It was something like the following:
Packing: 8 years
Avoidance of ghost listings: 4 years
Bulletproof descriptions: 3 years
Knowing what buyers want and how to price: 8 months

They hold it against sellers because arrived damaged is a bad buyer experience. Seller is responsible for packing the item appropriately to avoid damage. It can be done.
I am doing it today with stainless steel mounting rails for computer servers. 35 lb and 47 lb shipments. They have to be shipped so they can be dropped without damage. No other way around that. Takes about 80 to 90 minutes to pack each shipment. I add warning labels of the weight on every side of the boxes. Do whatever it takes.

Exactly. I've shipped blown glass Christmas ornaments (some internationally), porcelain Christmas houses, coffee mugs, shot glasses, ceramic/resin figures, vintage electronics, music boxes, and unboxed plastic figures with a ton of delicate sticking-out parts. Not a single one of those has ever been damaged in shipping. It absolutely can be done.

So I assume the ones I did not mark are INAD reasons? Please verify.

Hello- I deal in trading cards. In defense of the Standard envelope shipping being Unreliable I'd have to say quite the opposite. As a matter of fact all it really is, is the same as using a postage stamp just like Ben Franklin suggested a couple hundred years ago. Its better because it proves we mailed it and a stamp doesn't. I send out at a min. 25 a week and issues are rare. Matter of fact eBay sent out a sample mailing about 6 months ago showing people the correct way to use it. The key to success is USING the way their sample came, in a top loader for protection. Without that the results would be bad I'm sure. The thing that messes people up though is when they use envelopes that don't fall into the parameters of the program. I never use a envelope larger than 9 x 5 inches. And I always use a envelope. Not cardboard mailers. Maybe I've just been lucky but I'm still thankful that this program exist as it saves customers money. I'd rather see the post office get paid .63 as opposed to $4.50 to do basically the same job. Also consider we will soon be in the time of year where they start with their surcharges. Remember no surcharges on envelopes. Since I sell a disposable income type product, I'd rather see my customers be able to get more for their money. I feel that each time I use this method, I'm giving them $3.75 to spend on product instead of service. As a buyer, I also tend to buy from the lower priced shipping seller. People talk about EUS getting lost in the mail. Its the same as a stamp and my whole life I never had one of my bills get lost in the mail. They have always seemed to find their way to my door. Can it happen, Yes but It just doesn't happen that often.

Thank you for keeping us informed. It is appreciated.

We have items damaged in shipping once a year or less usually. Pack better and it doesn't matter how they treat the package.

I gotta say, I love a little sarcasm.
