Hey ebay, time to step into 2004 and introduce blocking controls that work

While I do enjoy getting perpetually harassed by buyers who think it's cute to barrage me with messages because their lowball offers got auto-rejected, it's even BETTER when the block controls on this garbage barge don't work.  Like any B- high school computer science student, ebay needs to introduce user controls next to a buyer's (or potential buyer's) ID, with the little teeny-tiny gear icon, or the three dots, that enables you to block that buyer, or restrict them.  Not a "list", that apparently does nothing.

So far this year, I've had someone who had a transaction with me, EBAY canceled the transaction for "my safety", then allowed the buyer to file a case for an item not received, despite being instructed by ebay not to ship said item.  Buyer was blocked, and I did not reply to their messages, as instructed by ebay.  Then, somehow buyer purchases another item from me, AFTER being blocked. *boggles*

Next, we have a person who hasn't purchased anything, but feels the need to relay their life story to me in twenty-or-so messages as to why I should accept their offer.  So, rather than engage with this troubled individual, I ignore them.  As well, there's a person who wants an "in-town discount" and will not stop messaging me about how he's been looking for the item I have, and, "C'mon help me complete my collection."  Both blocked.

Under site preferences, "Do not allow blocked members to contact me," is checked.  And after the first problem, I figured not contacting them at all was the best way to deal with it, lest the selling platform think I'm interested in doing business with them.  So, to recap: Never did business with either of these individuals.  Don't wish to.  Blocked them both.  "Don't allow blocked members to contact me" is checked under site preferences (which seems redundant, since that's what 'block' generally means.)  Somehow, messages are still getting through.

FIX. THIS.  This is not social media.  I'm here to sell, not to play word games with people that have no regard for others' time.  Oh, and before anyone with snark in their throat, or meaningless judgements to soothe their own ego has a go at me, this is MY business and I run it MY way.  I could care less if you think I'm being too quick on the trigger to block someone, or whatever issue raised your hackles.  Same goes for avoiding instead of engaging, or how my frustration is somehow "wrong" at being pissy about demanding basic features for a site we all pay endless amounts of money to every month. (and who wouldn't be in business if it weren't for the sellers)

This is great information and a legitimate seller concern.  Overall, eBay is way TOO buyer friendly.  It is constantly giving buyer's the benefit of the doubt and does not allow sellers to leave negative feedback on buyers (merely to "report" buyers who break a limited set of rules).  Feedback from sellers is POINTLESS if there is no way to leave negative feedback.  Sellers should have the right to identify problem buyers and to refuse to do business with anyone that does not meet the seller's business standards.

eBay also need to overhaul the automated returns process for items SNAD (significantly not as described).  Although eBay, in its quest to kiss buyers' behinds, eliminated the "significantly", they should reinstate some standards for abusive buyers who use this to return items and avoid paying for  shipping or to return items to sellers that do not accept returns.  I have been stubborn and have tried to fight these buyer remorse disguised as SNAD cases but eBay does not have any method of allowing sellers to provide input or objection to SNAD abuse.  This has cost me since I lost every case where I objected and my seller rating dropped significantly for "closed without resolution" cases.  I had cases where the item was exactly as described in the listing, functioned perfectly, and had no damage or other defect.  The SNAD was opened because an unlisted "accessory" was missing, even though the listing stated that the accessory was not included and was not shown in any photo.

At the very least, these cases where a seller can demonstrate SNAD abuse should be removed from the seller rating calculations.  As it stands now, the seller's objections are completely ignored by eBay in these cases.

Unfortunately, as you pointed out, there are many, many buyer TROLLS on eBay.  If eBay doesn't figure out how to be more responsive to sellers...their platform will spiral into  business failure.  Sellers are the source of eBay's income.  Buyers are the source of SELLERS' income.

Without buyers both sellers and Ebay would be out of business. IMO buyers are always more important then sellers.
