How does eBay management justify forcing independent sellers into their view of how to run a business?
If I NEED to charge a restocking fee on returns then that is MY decision as an independent seller.
I am fine with eBay making suggestions but I am not okay with being told how I am going to handle things without leaving me any choices.
Restocking fee settings are gone.
All returns are now full refund unless the item is returned in not new condition.
Stop forcing sellers in your straightjacket views.

I feel the same way as you. Ebay has continued to take my business hostage with their bright ideas. I wish sellers would think of a way to fight back. I sell mostly vintage used items. I can not use my Top Rated staus because I will not offer their crazy return policies. The day will come when I find another way to sell and say goodbye to Ebay for interfering in my sales. They also keep adding take offers to my buy it nows. We have gone around about that too. Good luck to you...I hope you prevail!

If eBay's rules are interfering with how you run your business, some might argue you are not very independent at all.

I understand your point, but when you sell on a shared venue like eBay, your actions and policies affect consumer confidence in the whole site.
In addition, charging a restocking fee in this day and age no doubt creates more work for eBay when buyers disagree and/or claim the goods were defective.

it's cute that you think of yourself as an independant seller.
You are a supplier. Basically, eBay drop ships your stuff.

We would have to agree. They have gone to far with some of these changes. Best regards

I agree with you. ebay is adding make an offer with don't accept prices lower than what I paid for an item. They seem to be taking over our stores. I want to add a make an offer to some items but the ones I choose. I have low prices that including shipping - I have to make something, I am not in business to lose money!

Good move Ebay. Most sellers don't NEED to charge a "restocking" fee but you feel the need to skim money off the top.

I agree with you 125%. I'm tired of being told my prices are too high, I should ship for free, I should refund for free and every single thing I do is wrong according to them. This is why I have two other stores on other sites.
They help buffer the 'you are wrong' messages from eBay.

This isn’t a “shared site”. This is ebay’s site.
To the OP: I doubt they like YOU trying to tell them how to run their site.

Wrong.
The transaction is 100% between seller and customer. Ebay only brings seller and customer together.
You confuse eBay with Amazon where the latter handles every part of the transaction and the seller is basically the shipper.

The first mistake folks make is thinking they are running a business when selling on ebay. Selling on ebay is about as far from running a actual business as one can get....

Bubbleman Ebay was didn't place before the Last Ceo J.D. Took over in 2007 ! We sellers had full control of are items and return policy's ,Ebay only got involve on INR's , Snad's and also at the request of buyer or seller if need was high for them to take over on dispute issues. In 2008 the Former Ceo JD did ask sellers to do a more of real world return policy . That was fine with me since second market 3 P seller can give limited returns , refunds or store type credit to buyer . or no refunds and returns on certain items .
