Here we go again -- no explanation for a charge

I received this notice from Ebay today that they would charge my bank account -17.44.  But nothing explaining WHY.  I have to call Ebay about the charge as to why.  It's not showing on my statement - yet!  Thanks Ebay for cryptic messages that cause us more work to research.

This is a notice to inform you that we will be debiting $17.44 from your bank account ending in 3002 to cover the outstanding fees and expenses.

We will process this transaction within 3 business days. If your pending and available funds become sufficient to cover any or all of this amount before you are charged, we will debit your pending and available funds and then deduct the remaining amount from your bank account.

You’ll see this charge recorded by your payment provider similar to the following:
EBAY*T*6951303898.

It's eBay's take for the $70 item you sold.  They get 12% of the item, plus shipping and taxes.

But it was refunded. Never sold. Never shipped. Maybe the adjustment is next month. Plus ebay seller help just got weird.  You have to jump thru hoops to get answers. We now have to talk to the robot.  Not worth it to be here anymore.

Was it officially cancelled by the cancellation process or just refunded? That would make a difference.

Did the cancellation go through eBay? If not, then eBay wouldn't know about the cancellation and thus would expect the seller to pay the fee.

Re: Here we go again -- no explanation for a charge

I got a similar email.

This is utterly confusing for two reasons:

1. Firstly, I owe $6 more than the amount the email says they will deduct from my bank account in 3 business days.

and

2) Secondly, they mention they will deduct it from my bank account, whereas PayPal is my payment method for eBAY fees, NOT my bank account.

PayPal is supposed to use my credit card, NOT my bank account (assuming I have no PayPal balance at the time).

Is there some glitch in the email verbiage?

Re: Here we go again -- no explanation for a charge

I got the same thing for 3 $12 International shipping charges. My balance available wasn't enough to cover them, but they give you 3 days. If you sell enough in those 3 days, it shouldn't be a problem. That was my take anyways. I've since sold enough, so we'll see.

Re: Here we go again -- no explanation for a charge

Hi did you receive an explanation for this? I received a similar email today and I can’t figure it out. It’s for an item that sold for .99, a vintage game and I used shipping for what the seller paid for. Not I’m getting a charge on the same item for $12 and change? Thanks

If you are under MP then your bank account is your funding source for all sales transactions. You can still use PayPal to purchase items with but they no longer are the financial processor for selling transactions Adyen is.

You may want to look at your Payments tab information and see if provides anymore detail on the charge. Be sure to expand the details to show all. I wish you the best with contacting eBay customer support that service has become abysmal as of late.

Re: Here we go again -- no explanation for a charge

This is a notice to inform you that we will be debiting $22.00 from your bank account ending in 2255 to cover the outstanding fees and expenses.

I just received one of these messages, too.  And I have no clue what it's for.

eBay takes their cut out of each and every one of my sales so...why would I be building a balance of outstanding fees?  I list less than 75 things a month, well under the number of 'free' listings allowed.

So what is this???

I'm clicking all over my account settings and I can find nothing to explain this.

Re: Here we go again -- no explanation for a charge

If that was the message that you received, I believe it explains that the debited amount is to cover outstanding fees and expenses.  If you dispute the validity of these, you will need to contact eBay as we, discussion board members, do not have access to your account details.

Re: Here we go again -- no explanation for a charge

Under the Payments section of your eBay account you can see the date/reason for the charge.

The T charges are usually for shipping labels but sometimes for store subscriptions. Usually it bills to my card the date after it shows up on the payments charged date on ebay.
